Suqian College is located in Suqian, which is known as "the first spring in China". Suqian is the youngest of three prefecture-level cities in Jiangsu Province 13, but it has a civilization history of more than 5,000 years. Especially in recent years, Suqian has made rapid progress in various indicators, and its comprehensive strength has been continuously enhanced. It has become a rapidly rising city, and has successively won honors such as National Civilized City, China Habitat Environment Award City and National Health City.

The development of universities and cities complement each other. Suqian College is the product of the innovation of higher education system in Jiangsu Province, which keeps pace with Suqian on the road of reform and innovation and grows together. Under the impetus of the provincial and municipal governments, since 2002, the school has cooperated with eight provincial universities, including Suzhou University, Yangzhou University, Jiangsu University, Nanjing University of Technology, Jiangsu Normal University, Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, Nanjing Institute of Technology and Nanjing Normal University, to hold undergraduate education, making use of the high-quality resources of the eight universities to achieve leap-forward development.

In 20 14, the school was approved by the Ministry of Education as an independent private undergraduate college, and the first independent undergraduate college in Suqian was established. In 20 18, the school passed the evaluation of the provincial degree office and became the authorized unit of bachelor's degree. In 2020, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Suqian College was transformed into a provincial public undergraduate college, which opened a new journey of transformation and development.
