Tencent holds 2022 Science and Technology Innovation Week to open the door to a beautiful digital society.

Recently, the 2022 Science and Technology Innovation Week, jointly sponsored by Tencent Research Institute and Tencent Sustainable Social Value Division (SSV), ended. This year's conference on science and technology for goodness was revised for the first time and upgraded to a four-day online seminar, which promoted a deeper exchange and reflection on the concept of science and technology for goodness in two forms: keynote speech and special forum.

The newly upgraded Tencent 2022 Xiangshan Science and Technology Innovation Week takes "openness" as the theme, including many important topics such as opening the black box of algorithms, promoting digital inclusiveness, promoting rural revitalization, circular economy, and social value innovation paths, aiming at understanding and building a beautiful digital society from a broader perspective.

During the four-day activity, Vice President of Tencent Group and Dean of Tencent Research Institute, Japanese sociologist and author of Dirty Society, Xiang Biao, director of Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Germany, Han Song, a science fiction writer, Huang Deng, author of My Two Students, Yao Yang, president of National Development Research Institute of Peking University, and Zhan Shi, a professor at Foreign Affairs University, gave speeches.

In the keynote speech entitled "Offline, Online and Presence", Xiao Si put forward a viewpoint based on the current development of the Internet: from offline to online is the liberation and breakthrough of Internet technology, while from online to presence, it is inevitable for technology upgrading and evolution to build a simulated world in virtual space and enhance it in the real world to realize a real sense of presence.

Xiao Si believes that the realization of telepresence is one of the important evolution directions of the meta-universe, and the meta-universe itself is the trend of technology development and the technology collection of the next generation Internet. We will not enter the metauniverse era because of the breakthrough of a single point technology or the emergence of a subversive product, but the technologies involved in the metauniverse, such as sensing, edge computing, perceptual interaction, holographic image, simulation engine, spatial sound field and AIGC (artificial intelligence production content), will be solidly transformed into real productive forces, further changing our production and lifestyle.

In the round-table dialogue session on the road of corporate social value, Chen, vice president of Tencent and head of Tencent's Sustainable Social Value Division, said that this year's Sustainable Social Value Division has actively explored the sustainable development of social value, scientific research and exploration, and the future development and upgrading of Tencent's public welfare platform. In Tencent's first 50 billion yuan social value sustainable innovation plan, we try to solve the problem of "rural revitalization" with "talent revitalization" and explore how to improve the ability of rural governance backbones and industrial development leaders, so that they can drive rural areas to achieve industrial prosperity and villagers' prosperity. The main goal of Tencent's public welfare platform is to get through the trust of donors and beneficiaries and all parties in the whole chain, so that it can develop independently and continuously. Tencent provides technical solutions in this process.

Facing the problem of "how to realize the social value of enterprises in the future", Chen said that the Sustainable Social Value Division will start with more direct social needs and find matching solutions by contacting more people and things from scientific research, education, agriculture and other fields, and promote practice.

Mihura Zhan, a Japanese sociologist and author of Dirty Society, summarized the experience and lessons of Japan's development in the past 25 years. He pointed out that under the general trend of aging and fewer children, enterprises have the responsibility to hire as many regular employees as possible, raise the wages of informal employees, improve working conditions, and create more opportunities to enjoy consumption in the "fourth consumption era". This is not only the responsibility of enterprises, but also the responsibility of the government and administrative organs.

Xiang Biao, a famous social anthropologist and director of Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Germany, pointed out from the perspective of the correlation between individuals in the network that society is entering a new "social market", that is, encouraging and creating various social relations as a source of profit. Teacher Xiang Biao tried to clarify the foundation and microstructure of individual social relations in the network economy through three questions, so as to further understand the generation process of these relations and their significance to society.

Han Song, a science fiction writer, expressed his understanding of how the world is structured. He believes that science fiction has created four new worlds: the world of free time, the world of free space, the world of free numbers and the world of free will. All science fiction takes place in these four new worlds, and all inventions originate from these four new worlds. Science fiction includes not only the logic and rationality represented by science, but also wild fantasy, which is presented to the audience in the form of art. The reason why science fiction is becoming more and more popular may be that contemporary life is essentially a struggle between reason and sensibility, normality and madness, reality and the future.

As for where the future of mankind will go, the professor of Foreign Affairs University gave a prediction in his speech: the hyperuniverse is the future of mankind. The display believes that the possibility of the digital world is far from exhausted, and the meta-universe based on the truly distributed characteristics of blockchain provides a possibility, which can create a digital world completely independent of and parallel to the physical world and run around the rules of the digital world. At the same time, it also shows that to build such a digital world, we must first further promote the evolution of algorithm ethics and realize the isomorphism of justice and interests.

Since 20 19, Tencent Research Institute has published a series of white papers on science and technology for goodness for three consecutive years, each of which embodies the thinking and practice of leading enterprises, academic institutions, non-profit organizations and thinkers in various fields, including Tencent.
