How is the cast iron mold made?

The manufacturing method of the cast iron mold is as follows:

Tools/raw materials: drawings, ink cast iron, high chromium cast iron, medium chromium cast iron, molds.

1. First, according to the structure and size of the iron castings to be cast, design the drawing of the mold. This includes determining the shape, size, core, cavity, gating system and cooling system of the mold.

2. Choose appropriate mold materials, usually materials with good thermal stability and wear resistance, such as ductile iron, high chromium cast iron, medium chromium cast iron, etc.

3. According to the design drawings, use various mechanical processing methods to process all parts of the mold. For complex molds, CNC machining or EDM may be needed.

4. In order to improve the hardness and wear resistance of the die, it is usually necessary to heat treat the die, such as quenching and tempering.

5. Assemble and manufacture the mould parts according to the design requirements to ensure that the core and cavity of the mould conform to the design size and shape of the casting.

6. Pour the molten iron into the mold, and after cooling and solidification, cast iron is formed.
