(1) faxian (ca. 337-422): A monk in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Gong, a native of Pingyang Wuyang (now xiang yuan, Shanxi), has a common surname. At the age of 3, he became a monk. In 399 AD, 65-year-old Fa Xian set out from Chang 'an, went west to seek the Dharma, crossed the green ridge to Tianzhu (India), and traveled to 29 countries, which lasted 14 years, and experienced difficulties and obstacles. 4/kloc-returned to China at the age of 78 in 0/2. Fa Xian is a famous monk in the history of Buddhism in China, an outstanding Buddhist innovator, the first master to study Buddhism overseas in China, an outstanding traveler and translator. He translated a lot of Buddhist scriptures in his life, wrote The Story of the Buddha Country, and recorded his mental journey and experience.

(2) Xuanzang (602-664): a famous monk in the Tang Dynasty, commonly known as Tang Priest. Chen, a Gou native of Luozhou (now Yanshi, Henan Province), entered the Buddha at the age of 10. In 627 (the third year of Zhenguan), he left Chang 'an for the west, passed through deserts, snow-capped mountains and other dangerous places, and arrived in Tianzhu to study and learn from the scriptures. 19 years later, he returned to Chang' an with a large number of Buddhist scriptures in 645. Xuanzang is a monk with multiple contributions in the history of Buddhism in China. He translated 75 classic works and papers, with a total volume of 1335. He is the author of The Western Regions of Datang, which describes the physical geography, political and economic conditions of countries along the route.

(3) Taklimakan Gobi: Located in the south of Xinjiang and the middle of Tarim Basin, it is dominated by mobile sand dunes. The whole desert is about 1000 km long from east to west and 400 km wide from north to south, with a total area of 337,600 square kilometers. It accounts for 47.3% of the national desert area and is the largest desert in China. Ranked sixth among the major deserts in the world. The highest temperature in summer is 67.2℃, the temperature difference between day and night is above 40℃, and the evaporation is higher than the precipitation, so it is called "the sea of death", which means "can't get in or out" in Uygur language.

(4) Tengger Desert: The fourth largest desert in China, located in Inner Mongolia and Gansu Province, with an area of about 30,000 square kilometers. There is a lot of vegetation in the depressions in the middle, south and north of the desert. 1958 started the sand control work, built hundreds of shelterbelts, sealed sand to facilitate grass growth, and the baotou-lanzhou railway crossing the desert was unimpeded, which was a great achievement of sand control science in China.
