Goodbye, Baishizhou!
When I came to Baishizhou again, it was already half a year after I moved away from Baishizhou.
After moving away from Baishizhou, I always feel that food, clothing, housing and transportation are not as convenient and complete as before, or maybe subconsciously I still want to find an opportunity to go back and visit. Although it is shabby, old and dirty, after all, I have lived in Baishizhou for more than three years. I have a special emotion for it. It is like my second hometown.
I was always too busy for various reasons and never had the chance to go, but this time I made up my mind to go back and have a look. So taking advantage of the afternoon, a person came to Baishizhou alone.
There are still people coming and going, and the traffic is still busy, but it is much less than in memory. As the most prosperous area in the past, Watsons, Tiantianhui, BBK and other stores have all closed, or some have become Zhongyuan Real Estate. Only Shahe Hospital, one of the landmarks of Baishizhou, looks brand new and airy in this dilapidated urban village after undergoing previous renovations.
As we walked further, there were plastic walls erected on both sides, and there was only a simple pedestrian passage. Demolition slogans and slogans are everywhere. Although I knew that Baishizhou was going to be demolished before, I still didn't expect it to be so real this time.
There are a total of 150,000 people in Baishizhou. This is the first stop for many beautiful people to realize their dreams. If this place is really going to be demolished, where will these people go to survive? Rental prices in Shenzhen have soared now, and there may not even be room for them outside the customs! What's more, what about those poor students who have just stepped out of school and are eager to find a job?
Although rationally I know that the prosperity of the city is based on this kind of cruel demolition and renewal, I still feel an inexplicable sense of loss and melancholy in my heart at this time.
I continued walking forward, and when I reached Yongan Medicine Hall, I stopped unconsciously. This was also the place I had to go home when I lived in Baishizhou. I would pass by here on many nights when I returned home.
This big medicine hall is said to sell medicine, but it actually serves as a part of the "cultural square". Whenever night falls, some people who have taken a break from work gather outside this drugstore to watch movies on the large TV screen outside the store. There are passers-by who stop to watch, there are also topless older men, and there are also "die fans" who come every night. They even just sit on the ground or on the steps outside the store to watch.
Since I have the impression that Shenzhen is a prosperous city with many high-rise buildings and luxuriant people, when I first came here I felt very disdainful of the small life in the city and the unbearable environment. I was also a little pretentious and thought I was just a person. I have no choice but to live here for the time being. When my salary increases in the future, I will definitely not live here again.
But I didn’t expect that I would later adapt to the urban culture of neighbors and families. Sometimes I would even stop and watch wonderful movie clips for a long time and experience this kind of thing with them. Leisurely slow time.
If I pass by this large pharmacy after get off work one day and don’t see groups of people watching movies here, I will even feel a little uncomfortable. When I think back to this scene now, I feel that in such a fast-paced big city like Shenzhen, it is very rare and satisfying to have a place that still retains such a strong urban atmosphere.
Then walk forward and you will reach Jiangnan Department Store. This was the place where our four college friends lived in Baishizhou and had the most activities and the most abundant memories. The alley to the right of Jiangnan Department Store was the busiest night market street when we first arrived.
In our eyes, it seems that here is the most delicious food in Shenzhen, such as Guaulu Fried Rice, Xuji Teppanyaki, Li Jie Mala Tang, Kaixin Sichuan Pepper Powder, Lao Ma Chaoshou’s Miscellaneous Sauce Noodles, etc. Wait, until now I can still call them by name.
We didn’t work much overtime on weekdays at that time. When we came back around 7 o’clock in the evening, we would go to this night market street to buy food to take home. We rarely ate food stalls or big meals. On the contrary, we felt This is a simple delicacy that you will never get tired of eating. Later, this night market street was asked to move to Xintang, and soon it was moved back again, and then disappeared completely.
I looked inside this snack street, which used to be brightly lit at night and filled with people. Nowadays, most of the doors are closed. Only Lao Ma Chaoshou moved to the outside and changed to a bigger one. storefront. It’s a pity that the scenery is no longer the same as before, the people are no longer the same people as before, and I myself may no longer be the same person as before.
Before I knew it, I walked outside Yunna Fashion City opposite Jiangnan Department Store. I looked up at the intersection of Shahe Street and Xinzhong Road in the direction of Mingzhu Garden, where the sign pointed to, where I once lived. I followed this familiar yet unfamiliar road to the roof that I had climbed many times before.
It was almost evening when I stood on the roof of the Pearl Garden where I used to live. The setting sun has long since set, and the night is slowly coming up. Looking around, the lanterns of Baishizhou and its surroundings are beginning to light up. The room I once lived in may just be a bright spot in the night view at this time, and the road I have walked countless times has only become a strip of light in the night view.
Thinking of this, I feel an indescribable complex feeling in my heart. This may be mixed with reluctance to leave Baishizhou, nostalgia for the past, and melancholy about the changes in the world. The many days and nights spent in Baishizhou may be like bright spots and light bands in the night, submerged in the dust of the years...
"Time has passed." Never look back, never recall the past."... In the gentle night breeze, this soothing song floated out of an unknown window. I looked at Baishizhou in the lights along the vast night sky, let out a long sigh, and thought to myself - since the past will disappear forever, then I might as well wish Baishizhou better and better!
Baishizhou will definitely get better and better, even if Baishizhou in the future will no longer be the place I once lived.
A smile appeared at the corner of my mouth. Since I can’t keep it, I might as well say goodbye!
