What spirit does Lu Shengmei embody?

Lu Shengmei embodies the Ruziniu spirit of serving the people.

Speaking of Lu Shengmei, it can be said that she is a household name. As her name suggests, she is Lu Shengmei, the deputy director and director of pediatrics of Yuanjia County People's Hospital who just won the 8th National Moral Model. She has successively won the titles of "Good Person of China", "March 8th Red Flag Bearer", "Three Qin Model", "Star of Integrity", "Most Beautiful Doctor", etc. Behind these many heavy honors is her fearless choice and perseverance time and time again.

In 1968, Lu Shengmei graduated from the then Beijing Second Medical College and obeyed the assignment to come to Yulin Jia County People's Hospital of Shaanxi Province to become a doctor. After learning that many villagers in the mountains were sick and unable to get to the county for treatment in time, Lu Shengmei carried a medical kit and went into the village for door-to-door consultations. Taking root in the Loess Plateau for more than 50 years, Lu Shengmei’s footprints have traveled to 24 towns. Her home, a cave dwelling of less than 20 square meters, has also become her second clinic.

With the efforts of Lu Shengmei and his colleagues, the pediatric department of Jiaxian People's Hospital grew from scratch, passed the acceptance of a Class II A hospital, and was awarded the title of "Baby-Friendly Hospital". After Lu Shengmei retired in 1999, she rejected her relatives' suggestions to return to Beijing and refused high-paying offers from other hospitals, and continued to stay in Jiaxian to treat the people. When the COVID-19 epidemic broke out in the local area in 2020, Lu Shengmei took the initiative to volunteer. Since she was unable to go to the front line to fight the epidemic, she took the lead in carrying out online diagnosis and treatment.
