The first couplet refers to the bodhi old zu of Chen Tuan, who lived in seclusion in Huashan during the Five Dynasties. He is a famous Taoist scholar and is called "Mr. Yi Xi" by Song Taizong. The second couplet refers to Ai Chen, an upright official in the Eastern Han Dynasty. When Emperor Huan of the Han Dynasty, Ai Chen was appointed as Qiu.
