Tell me how you feel about retirement

Time is like an invisible hand, ruthlessly turning the pages of the years one by one. It turns today into yesterday and yesterday into memories. I originally had two pigtails and was full of longing to go to work. My youth is far behind me. Now I have blue hair and frost, and I have entered the ranks of retirees. When I look back on this life that has been filtered through the net of time, I have accumulated a lot, gained a lot, and also have a little regret...

I am about to leave my job, and in the days when my career pursuit is about to come to an end, I can't help but feel a little bit in my heart. Sadly, work is wonderful after all. Scenes of more than 50 years of growth and life, and more than 30 years of work in the Association for Science and Technology, are constantly unfolding in my mind, as if they are right in front of me.

I remember that in October 1976, after graduating from high school, I responded to Chairman Mao’s call. Full of enthusiasm and ideals, I said goodbye to my parents and came to Urumqi City’s “May Day Farm” to jump in and settle down. At that time, I was simple, progressive, diligent, and energetic, fighting with the poor and lower-middle peasants, sweating in the fields. That experience records the hard work we endured when we first entered society, and also recorded many of our innocent dreams, our passion to make progress, and our desire to pursue the truth in our bitter and happy years. That experience tempered our will, shaped our character, and created our spirit of hard work and self-improvement.

I remember that in October 1978, after two years of re-education, I was transferred to work in the Xinjiang Science and Technology Commission’s Group Science Division (formerly the Association for Science and Technology) because of my outstanding performance, and I began to work with science and technology. Working and living together with colleagues day and night. At that time, the Association for Science and Technology had poor basic conditions and few staff. Except for a few small offices in Building 7 of the Science Complex, it did not even have an independent and fixed office space. It fought guerrillas everywhere. It had worked in the Mining and Metallurgical Club, The Kashgar Office in Uzbekistan and the Mining Bureau's office building rented space for office operations. With such working conditions, one can imagine how difficult it is. However, the work of the Association for Science and Technology is booming, and the Association for Science and Technology has continued to grow and develop, leading to its current glory. What it relies on is the importance and support the country and Xinjiang attach to the work of the Association for Science and Technology, and the spirit of self-improvement and hard work of the Association for Science and Technology from generation to generation.

I remember that I participated in the preparations for the second to seventh congresses of the Association for Science and Technology. I have personally experienced and witnessed the historical changes of the Science and Technology Association from weak to strong, and from small to large. I can’t forget that during the preparations for the second and third congresses of the Association for Science and Technology, due to the small number of staff, they often worked overtime. In the dead of night, the sound of the old typewriters “click, click” was so crisp. The proofreading and binding of a large number of documents was a busy scene. I will never forget the various scenes of running around to various units to send documents, notices, and contact meeting representatives. I will never forget the quality and speed of modern office work during the preparatory work for the Sixth National Congress of the Association for Science and Technology, especially the Seventh National Congress. I will never forget the grand scenes of the 2005 Academic Annual Conference of the National Association for Science and Technology and the Seventh National Congress of the National Association for Science and Technology in 2007.

I remember that when I first arrived at the Association for Science and Technology, I was so innocent and immature. Years of practical training in the Association for Science and Technology made me gradually grow into a division-level cadre. From the office to the Popularization Department, the Human Resources Department, the Youth Work Department (Youth Science and Technology Center), the Anti-Cult Association, and then back to the Science Popularization Department, from clerk, chief section member, deputy director to director (minister), step by step, there is joy and joy. There is also worry, excitement, and worry. When I became the director of the Youth Science and Technology Center and began to carry out various tasks independently, I truly realized the hardships it takes to mature. I know that my work history is all a reflection of the care, education and training given to me by the leaders of the Association for Science and Technology, as well as the understanding, help and support of my comrades. Every piece of it, bit by bit, lingers in my heart all the time, making me deeply grateful. In the days when I was about to leave my job, I kept saying silently in my heart over and over again: Dear leaders, dear comrades, I sincerely thank you!
