Our country has designated the last week of April to May 1st, International Labor Day (April 25th to May 1st) as the National Occupational Disease Prevention and Control Law Publicity Week. The publicity week is to conscientiously implement the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council on the prevention and control of occupational diseases, in-depth publicity and implementation of the Occupational Disease Prevention and Control Law, to promote employers to implement the main responsibilities for occupational disease prevention and control, and to protect the occupational health rights and interests of the majority of workers.

1. Current status of occupational diseases

In 2013, the "Classification and Catalog of Occupational Diseases" jointly issued by the National Health and Family Planning Commission, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the State Administration of Work Safety, and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions classified occupational diseases into 10 categories and 132 types. These diseases involve the respiratory system, skin, eyes, ears, nose, throat, and mouth, etc., which are extremely harmful to the lives and health of employees.

Article 2

This law applies to Occupational disease prevention and control activities in the People's Republic of China and the country.

Occupational diseases as mentioned in this Law refer to diseases caused by workers in enterprises, institutions, individual economic organizations and other employers who are exposed to dust, radioactive substances and other toxic and harmful factors in their professional activities. .

The classification and catalog of occupational diseases shall be formulated, adjusted and published by the health administrative department of the State Council in conjunction with the labor and social security administrative department of the State Council.

Article 88

This law shall come into effect on May 1, 2002.
