Chenrenjian former residence

Zhukuntou in Nanxi village

Chen's former residence is in Zhushantou, Nanxi Village, Xianyou County. When the house was built, the tiles on the roof were red tiles made of black soil. At that time, the tiles of local houses were all black tiles made of red soil. In this way, the roof of the red tile is particularly dazzling, and the locals call this house "red tile".

The story of Hongcuowa

Red CuO bricks are divided into old CuO bricks, back seat bricks and new CuO bricks. In the 22nd year of Daoguang (1842), the founder of Chen VI began to build Laocuowa. According to legend, there are many brothers in Chen Ben who make a living by striking while the iron is hot. He went to Songkou Town, Yongtai and bought a few loads of scrap iron. When he got home, he found it was all scrap iron. Many years later, Chen Ben's 30-year-old grandson Chen Desi's children and grandchildren built a seven-and-a-half-protected building (commonly known as Xincuo) next to the south of the back seat. Although projects were built one after another after the Republic of China, the overall pattern of residential buildings in Chen was completed in the Qing Dynasty. Walking into Hongcuowa is like walking into an art palace. The first thing you see is the door hairpin and various carved patterns on the walls on both sides. Its superb wood carving skills and exquisite craftsmanship can be called the first-class level of Puxian folk crafts. It is said that the wood originally planned to build two seven-room rooms was finally used in the construction of this house, so whether it is the large and small hall in the middle of the central axis or the eaves in front of the door, Liang Ang, the bucket arch, the forehead Fang and the mat are all covered with patterns, and even the nearly thousand-meter-long Liang Fang around the house is also decorated with carved flowers. One of the most complicated designs, it took the carpenter three months to finish. Compared with woodcarving buildings, the number of stone carvings is relatively small, but few and refined. According to Chen people, the two stone carvings embedded in the curved walls on both sides of the gate were made by the owner for masons with 20 acres of land. For such a large sum of money, stonemasons carved it carefully, and nearly two square-sized bluestone boards were decorated with flower patterns. The picture composition is complete, the characters are vivid and the landscape is unique, which shows the story of Confucianism.

The time mark of the former residence

From this house full of artistic language, it can be seen that the master of the Chen family has a special hobby and a high level of appreciation of folk art. Chen grew up in such a family environment, with more or less subtle artistic influence. Chen's former residence is located in the lobby on the north side of the central axis of Xincuo. It's hard to imagine the splendor here. It seems that you can appreciate the vicissitudes of the house and its owner from the slogans and relics left on the wall. Before liberation, Chen was rounded up by the Kuomintang for participating in the underground guerrillas of the * * * Production Party. Although the house was not burned down, some of its decorations were destroyed. During the Great Leap Forward, the hall of the house was requisitioned and transformed into a national granary. During the Cultural Revolution, Chen was persecuted and his residence was ransacked five times. In order to protect the stone carvings, the Chen family took the initiative to smooth the relief on the wall with mud and wrote quotations from Chairman Mao on it. These quotations are still preserved in stone carvings and become the imprint of an era.

A master and a former residence have accumulated different impressions of life and times in different times and situations, but when a work becomes a classic, its light will last forever in the long river of history.
