Liu Lianyuan’s biography

Revolutionary martyr. Born into a prosperous family. He studied hard in his childhood and was admitted to Baoding Yude Middle School with excellent results. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1926. In the same year, he was dispatched by the school party organization to return to Wan County to develop the party organization with Han Yonglu and Li Yongmao. Using teaching as a cover, he secretly cultivated party members among students. He organized students and farmers to hold demonstrations against donations and taxes many times, and posted slogans such as "Down with the local tyrants and evil gentry" and "Abolish exorbitant taxes and miscellaneous taxes." He also personally publicized and gave speeches to encourage the people in the mountainous areas to fight against the enemy. In August 1930, according to the instructions of the Provincial Party Committee, a peasant uprising was held in Wuligang, Wan County, and the 22nd Red Army was established, with him serving as deputy commander. On August 17, the Red Army divided into four groups to attack the county seat, and he led one group to attack the west city. After the riot failed, he was wanted by the Kuomintang security team with a reward. In May 1933, he attended a secret meeting in Nanguan, Baoding, preparing to form the 23rd Red Army, but was betrayed and arrested by the traitor Xue Baotian. In prison, he suffered all kinds of torture from the enemy, but remained steadfast and unyielding. During the interrogation, the enemy was left tongue-tied. The enemy became angry and prepared to take him, Ma Yongling and Zhao Zongmin to the execution ground to be executed. At the prison gate, he exchanged glances with three other men, threw handcuffs at the enemy, and beat one enemy to the ground. The other enemies retreated in a hurry, raised their guns and shot at them, and died heroically on the spot. In 1983, his remains were cremated and moved from Baoding to Wanxian Martyrs Cemetery.
