[Interview with Tanggula's "Heaven"] Tanggula, my love.

A heavenly road made the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the highest railway in the world, a household name, which touched China and shocked the world. On the third anniversary of the opening of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, we made a special trip to interview Han Limin, the honorary title winner of the National Railway Youth League Committee, the young hero of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway Construction, the youth contribution award of the national key project, the model worker of Qinghai Province, the winner of the National May 1st Labor Medal, the chief engineer of the China Railway 18th Bureau Group and the commander of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway Command.

Break through the forbidden zone of life and dare to ask where the road is.

No railway in the world can make people so shocked and excited. In the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the most mysterious place except the moon, a world-famous steel dragon broke through the forbidden zone of life, crossed the Gobi Kunlun and flew over the rift valley graben ... It told the world with indisputable facts that it was the highest altitude and the longest route in the world!

On June 29th, 20001year, the second phase of Qinghai-Tibet Railway (Golmud-Lhasa section) started. The total length of Golmud-Lhasa section of Qinghai-Tibet Railway is1142km, of which1165438km is newly built and 32km is reconstructed from Golmud to Nanshankou.

Han Limin was appointed as the chief commander of Qinghai-Tibet Railway Project of China Railway 18th Bureau Group. After receiving the appointment, Han Limin was both excited and deeply responsible. He knows very well that the Qinghai-Tibet Railway is different from other projects. In the process of construction, it will face severe challenges of frozen soil, cold and lack of oxygen and ecological fragility. This project is very arduous. China Railway 18th Bureau Group undertook the construction of the 9th and18th sections of Qinghai-Tibet Railway, with a total length of 80km. The crossing section of Tanggula Mountain and Qiangtang Nature Reserve, the highest station with an altitude of 5,068m and the highest quarry with an altitude of 5 170m are all in the bid section of China Railway 18th Bureau Group, which is the most difficult section for Qinghai-Tibet Railway to cross. Therefore, Han Limin deeply felt that this commander was different from other project commanders and needed not only physical strength and endurance, but also wisdom and courage.

"You must do it if you want to do it. Never stop until you win the game. " This was his secret determination when he became commander of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. In June of 200 1 year, he led the builders of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway into Amdo County, an important town in northern Tibet at an altitude of 4,750 meters.

Overcome three major worldwide problems

Tanggula, which crosses the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, has an average elevation of more than 4,900 meters, which is the most prominent part of the three world-wide problems of frozen soil, cold and lack of oxygen and ecological fragility.

Frozen soil is a special soil that freezes below 0℃. Frozen soil is very sensitive to temperature. Too low or too high a temperature will cause frost heaving or melting. Rubble ventilation subgrade is an important technology to solve the frost heave and thaw settlement of subgrade in permafrost regions. The particle size and gradation of flaky are the key to control the quality of flaky ventilated subgrade, and the particle size is required to be10 ~ 30 mm. During the construction, the technicians of the 18th Bureau of China Railway adopted the method of mainly crushing with a stone crusher, supplemented by reducing the size in hydraulic hammer, and manually cooperated with an excavator for screening and loading. After receiving the situation report, Han Limin immediately took people to the scene for inspection. In the case of clear facts, he ordered the project department to immediately stop the construction of rubble ventilation subgrade, pull unqualified rubble back to rubble yard for reprocessing, and arrange professional on-site supervision. Those who fail to meet the standards are never allowed to return to work. In order to set an example, the project department was later fined 300,000 yuan after a meeting.

In Tanggula Mountain Station, the key project of the whole line, the construction of flaky ventilation subgrade adopts geogrid, and each layer is rolled by 38 cm, and the compaction thickness of each layer is controlled at 30 cm. At the same time, geogrids, composite geogrids, insulation boards, hot rods and replacement measures are installed.

Fortunately, the three world-wide problems of permafrost, cold and lack of oxygen and ecological fragility have been overcome. Key technologies of bridge construction in permafrost regions of Qinghai-Tibet Railway were published in China Engineering Science, the authoritative journal of China Academy of Engineering. Among them, the GPS control survey method in permafrost region of Qinghai-Tibet Railway won the ministerial-level construction method of the Ministry of Railways, and the experimental research on anti-corrosion coating system of steel structure of bridge deck system of Qinghai-Tibet Railway won the second prize of scientific and technological progress of the head office, and passed the appraisal of the Ministry of Railways.

Surround the plateau with a "green hada"

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau has the purest blue sky and white clouds in the world, the bluest lake, the highest majestic snow mountain and the most beautiful and gorgeous red willow forest ... The Qinghai-Tibet Railway will connect the precipitous Kunlun Mountain, Huofeng Mountain and Tanggula Mountain, the beauty of Hoh Xil and the mystery of Tongtian River and Tuotuo River, which will make the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau proud of Mount Everest even more magnificent. For the sanctity of this beautiful picture, the China Railway 18th Bureau Group, which participated in the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, carried out a green project, enclosing a more beautiful "green Hada" on the plateau.

Carrying out the activities of young environmental protection volunteers is an integral part of implementing the green project of Qinghai-Tibet Railway. Teams use their spare time to clean up the waste paper scraps scattered on the grass by the wind and all kinds of construction wastes left by engineering vehicles outside the green protective net, and use voluntary environmental protection actions to "reduce the burden" on fragile plateau vegetation and clean the plateau land. On the way to the construction site, after drinking mineral water, we just rolled down the window glass and were about to throw it out. The driver said, "You can't throw it. Someone will handle it back at the construction site." It can be seen that environmental awareness has been integrated into the blood of the builders of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway.

Tibetan antelope is a national rare wild animal that inhabits the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It migrates from south to north on a large scale every spring and summer. In order to ensure their free migration, 33 wildlife passages have been set up along the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, and according to the migration habits of different animals, the passages are designed into three forms: under the bridge, above the tunnel and on the gentle slope to ensure the normal life, migration and reproduction of wildlife.

On May 14, 2003, several employees of the Fifth Project Department found a seriously injured "big bird" during the construction, and several people did not dare to neglect it, so they immediately sent it back to the Project Department. Environmental protection personnel and medical staff treated and "identified" "Big Bird" and confirmed it as a national second-class protected animal-Falcon. The staff took good care of the injured falcon and carefully prepared its favorite food every day. Two months later, the falcon's injuries were all healed, and the staff released it and let it soar freely in the sky. However, Hayabusa circled over the Fifth Project Department for a long time, unwilling to leave. The fifth project department interpreted a touching story of people getting along well with wild animals.

Tibetan and Chinese families

Not long ago, the Naqu District Committee of Tibet presented a banner to the China Railway 18 th Bureau Group, which read "A Chinese-Tibetan family enjoys a good reputation in the grassland", expressing the gratitude of Tibetan compatriots to the headquarters for benefiting local people and promoting local economic development.

When I first came here, I saw that many nomadic Tibetan children could not go to school. The headquarters of China Railway 18th Bureau Group generously donated money, and sent several help groups to the countryside during holidays to solve the problem of local children's difficulty in going to school. Party member cadres at the headquarters actively donated money and materials to the resident herdsmen. Every year on Children's Day, they will come to Gangni Township Primary School with some school supplies and daily necessities to celebrate the festival for the children and get together with the villagers. June 1 day has become another lively festival in pastoral areas besides the horse racing festival.

Lausanne is a young herder in Gunny Township. 1998 A snowstorm occurred in Tanggula, and all his cattle and sheep froze to death, making him a poor household in the township. Han Limin discussed with Sun, the old secretary of the Sixth Project Department, and the new secretary of the township party committee, and asked Tibetan herdsmen to help guard the camp and equipment during the rest of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway in winter. Among them is Lausanne. When the road builders came back in the spring, all the other herders went home, but Lausanne stayed. Nima, secretary of Gangni Township, said that he was an orphan and the township government was his home. Han Limin said that on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the 18th Bureau of China Railway is his home. As a result, Lausanne became a temporary worker officially hired by the project department, responsible for the cleaning of the construction site, and had a stable living guarantee.

In order to increase the income of the people in pastoral areas, in addition to Lausanne, the 18th Bureau of China Railway arranged more than 500 Tibetan people to participate in railway construction, and assigned them some jobs within their capacity, which enabled them to learn labor skills and increase their income, paving the way for Tibetan-Chinese national unity.

Tanggula, Tibetan means a place where Shan Ying can't fly. The soldiers of China Railway 18th Bureau not only created the miracle of railway construction, but also cast a spiritual monument on the towering Tanggula Mountain in the forbidden area of life!
