Where is the former site of the Red 6 Division?

The former site of the Red 6 Division is the cultural relics protection unit in Jiangle County.

The former site of the Red 6 Division is located in Jiaohu Village, Nankou Township, Jiangle County.

Jiaohu Ferry was the only traffic channel between Jiangle County and Mingxi and south Jiangle at that time. In August, 1933, the Sixth Division of the Red Army was stationed in Jiaohu Village, guarding the throat of the main traffic road, and the division office was located in Yang's Ancestral Hall. During this period, the Red Army organized the masses to fight local tyrants and divide fields, and established the Soviet government and the Red Guard in Jiaohu Township. Luo Xianshui, Yang Mingzhang and Xiong Qiufa were appointed as land commissioners, field commissioners and propaganda commissioners respectively. Yang Rongfu and many other young people in the village joined the Red Army, while Huang Qiumao, Yang Shengshun, Yang Yuzhen and Liao Xianfu joined the Red Guard. The Red Army has written slogans such as "Expanding the Red Army", "Fighting local tyrants, dividing fields" and "Children over six years old join children's groups" around the walls of ancestral halls. When the Red Army troops passed Jiaohu Ferry, the Red Army mobilized the masses to load hundreds of "rice baskets" and "valley buckets" in the village with stones and sink them into the riverbed as temporary piers, and laid the door panels removed from the masses' homes on them to build a temporary bridge. At most once, thousands of Red Army troops passed. On September 12th, hundreds of enemy troops from Ma Hongxing Department of Kuomintang army attempted to bypass Bailian and Shuikou to reinforce the enemy troops in Jiangle County. The Red Army ordered the 18th-1st Company to strengthen the guards at Jiaohu Ferry, destroy roads and ferries, and strengthen the vigilance at Shuikou and Huangtan. When the Red Army withdrew from Jiaohu Village, it left a war horse for the Red Guards to encourage them to persist in guerrilla struggle.

The former site of the Red 6 Division was originally the Yang's Ancestral Hall in Jiaohu Village. It was built in the Qing Dynasty (1717), facing south, with a brick-wood structure, consisting of a short fence with a door pavilion, an empty ceiling, a middle passage, a lower hall, a porch, a patio, an upper hall, a back flower terrace, and a protective cover.

In June 23, Yang's Ancestral Hall, the former site of Red 6 Division, was announced as a protected unit by Jiangle County Cultural Relics Management Committee.
