The general translation standards for the new version are: managed in accordance with regulations, concise and clear; having both spatial information and historical and humanistic significance; reflecting the role of the sign’s opening service project. According to this standard, the application of Chinese Pinyin for subway station names should comply with the "Chinese Pinyin Scheme" and the "Basic Rules for Chinese Pinyin Orthography". The first letter of each English spelling enterprise is capitalized and other English letters are lowercase and spaced according to the Chinese Pinyin standard.

For example, Puhuangyu is written as Puhuangyu and Xuanwumen is written as Xuanwumen. Station names that are named after scenic spots, revolutionary holy places, etc., or have English names that have been established by convention, have been used for a long time, and are widely accepted in the East and the West, are translated again in English. For example, the Summer Palace in Beijing is translated into Summer Palace, and the National Library is translated into National Library. If the station name ends with directional words such as east, west, south, north, etc., the directional information content is marked with English abbreviations. For example, the west of Jiaomen is written as JiaomenXi(W), and the north of Beihai is written as BeihaiBei(N).

The translation of the new version is more in line with practical reading habits, further improving the standardization level of English translation of local subway slogans. Since the removal and replacement of English signs is a process from shallow to deep, the translation and writing of the same station may be different at a certain stage due to factors such as sign production, upgrade cycle time, capital allocation, etc. The Municipal Transportation Commission will coordinate with relevant enterprises to integrate subway station system updates and sign upgrades based on the new version of the translation method, and gradually replace them.
