Pingdingshan Riverside Park is located in the southwest of Pingdingshan city center, adjacent to the Zhan River in the north. It was first built in 1959, covering an area of ??106 hectares. As a result, the original park area has been reduced to 55.2 hectares. The terrain around the park is flat, with an altitude of 84m. This area was originally a depression in the Zhan River. Later, the Zhan River was dredged and the water level dropped. An urban flood control channel runs through the north and south of the park, dividing the park into east and west parts. The park has implemented closed fee management since its establishment. In 2005, the Pingdingshan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government responded to the wishes of the general public and decided to exempt the four gates of Riverside Park from ticket fees starting from July 1 of that year. Since the beginning of 2011, more than a dozen large and small projects have been completed in the park renovation, including comprehensive renewal of the water network, adding barrier-free facilities for disabled people in 5 public toilets, updating the east gate green space, opening up the dead end road, painting the walls, renovating the zoo, etc. , a series of renovation projects with a total investment of more than 5 million yuan.
