The Shawshank Redemption?

No matter how long the night is, the day will come. This is one of the most impressive quotations I read in Macbeth, one of Shakespeare's four tragedies. When I revisited the movie The Shawshank Redemption yesterday, the phrase "Hope is good, maybe the best in the world, and good things never die" still made me think for a long time. After several years, I was growing up, and my understanding of "hope" had more complicated thinking and consideration.

The film set suspense for the audience from the beginning. In the dark, Andy, a young banker, sat in his car and stopped outside his wife's lover's house. He slowly took out his pistol and a small pile of bullets and waited in the dim light, perhaps waiting for an opportunity, or waiting for his wife and her lover to appear ... As for whether he killed him, there was no specific answer at first.

When I saw Andy again, he appeared in the dock of the court, was accused of killing his wife and her lover, was sentenced to life imprisonment, and was taken to Shawshank prison to serve his sentence.

In prison, every time a new prisoner comes in, there will always be a big surge. Those prisoners who are used to prison life will make a bet at such a moment, using cigarettes as a bargaining chip, betting that the new prisoners will collapse first and cry first. Rhett, who has been in prison for decades and failed to apply for parole several times, looks at Andy, who is fragile and tall, and desperately chooses him to collapse first. But Andy, who has been silent and unhappy, finally let Rhett lose. That's when Rhett began to pay attention to Andy.

During his first imprisonment, Andy was taciturn and kept away from people all day. When he is on the lookout, he always wanders around the big yard of the prison alone, looking preoccupied, but making other prisoners feel that he seems relaxed. Finally, a month later, Andy, who has been autistic all day, began to talk to others. The first person to talk was Rhett. Until one day, the arrival of another prisoner, Tom, broke Andy's life, and the result of Andy's broken life rekindled Rhett's inner light of hope.

In an accidental conversation, Tom revealed the real murderer who killed Andy's wife and her lover. After hearing this, Andy immediately went to the warden, hoping to reopen the case. However, the warden has always regarded him as his own money laundering tool, which is embarrassing in all aspects. After several arguments, Andy was kept in solitary confinement for two months. During Andy's detention, the warden also set a trap and shot Tom.

Andy, who had no hope of retrial and despair, slowly saw the reality after lifting the ban. Facing the heavy reality, Andy still has an idea. He talks to Rhett about going to the distant Pacific Ocean, owning a hotel and a boat of his own. The afternoon before he escaped from prison, Andy told Rhett that if Rhett could get parole, he would do him a favor and go to the place where he proposed to his wife and find a black volcanic glass stone with something for him buried under it. After Andy arranged everything, on the stormy night of thunder and lightning, he climbed half a mile of smelly sewer along the tunnel dug early, and finally ushered in the long-awaited freedom. The hope that he had struggled for more than ten years was finally realized. In the dark night, the rain beat every inch of Andy's skin violently, and the feeling of more than 20 years ago returned to him. After the rain stops, the dawn will bloom again.

After breaking out of prison, Andy took some money from the warden and reported the warden's people. Then go through all kinds of formalities and go to Mexico, the place he wants to go most, the place he agreed with Rhett.

And Rhett was finally released on parole after changing people in prison. Under that oak tree, there are cash and letters left by Andy in advance. After a dusty journey, two old friends met again in Blue Bay, but this time, it was in the outside world.

I think at that moment, Rhett didn't really recover, and what Andy has been nagging about has come true. The idea that he once thought he would be institutionalized slowly evaporated when the sun shone on the beach, and everything came true. They are really free, and their lives are back.

I think, without Andy's persistence in hope, there would be no next story. If Andy, like everyone else, is lifeless and keeps his heart in a cage, there will be no subsequent freedom and no placement of his soul. Just like thousands of people trapped in Qian Qian prison, they are forgotten by the world and themselves, content with a brick wall building in a corner. They are as numb as walking dead and institutionalized. Their souls are dead, and their bodies, like deadwood, boil out slowly under the burning of years.

Just like the line in the movie says, "cowardice imprisons the soul, and I hope to set you free." A strong man saves himself, a saint helps others. "Although Andy was in prison, he didn't give in to life or himself. He is still full of faith and hope, doing things safely, thinking about the meaning of life and looking forward to the future. Maybe Andy doesn't feel great himself, but it is his faith that makes him not only redeem himself, but also give others upward strength.

In fact, in modern society, many people don't have that kind of hope of concentration. Today, with the development of the Internet, the mourning culture is always around us. We regard self-denial as a habit and resignation as a destiny takes a hand arrangement. Today, with the decrease of subjective initiative, we learn to sigh and sigh in belittling our incompetence and inferiority, and secretly admit defeat in high school, which is not as good as other people's family background and has no starting point. We are still full of hope for the future, but we are not so eager and focused, because we may be shaken and shattered at any time.

Hope is reserved for those who still have ardent expectations for life, and ignorance and numbness are reserved for those who have lost confidence in life. The world is so unfair, but there is still a chance to turn it around. The terrible thing is that you gave up on yourself and easily lost the opportunity to turn you over. What really binds us is not the cold room, but the heart that will not grieve for life for a long time. True freedom is not the external flashy world, but your own heart. If the heart binds itself, even in a lively and cheerful world, it will not help. It takes a person who tied the bell to untie the bell. Your freedom is in your hands.

Life boils down to a simple choice: get busy living or get busy dying. What are you busy with, or are you in a hurry? Do you have sincere hopes? Or are you still suffering from yourself, unable to walk out of the old world of numbness and pain, and unable to walk out of the new world that you yearn for? There are many answers. Did you find them? What kind do you belong to?

People with eternal hope in their hearts are willing to stick to the end when they encounter any difficulties, find that breakthrough and catch a glimpse of that light. If there is no hope in your heart, go with the flow and muddle along, even if you are helpless and unwilling, you will not fight against it and gradually become a slave to life.

Whether it is life or life, it is not so easy to live. There must always be some hopes and expectations, so that we can bloom more beautiful flowers in our occasionally cramped life, and let us see ourselves on the other side of the river of life and the colorful scenery we met along the way.

What exists is always there, and what can't be locked may be buried. We don't want to bury it, we want it to reappear. Continue to light up our lives, take the next road and blossom more beautiful flowers along the way.
