Chapter 3: A 200-word diary about the Chinese New Year In the blink of an eye, the Lunar New Year is here. The Year of the Snake in 2013 will become history, and 2014 is the Year of the Horse. Everyone is ready to welcome the new year.

On the eve of the Lunar New Year, every household is busy buying festive food. The wet markets and shopping malls are crowded and very lively, and the roads are packed with traffic.

During Sunday, my mother decided to do a general cleaning. Let's help mom and dad clean up together.

Dad is responsible for sweeping away the cobwebs from the ceiling. My mother was responsible for cleaning the floor outside the house, and my sister was responsible for the decoration work. She hung the decorations in the corners of the living room.

My brothers and sisters and I cleaned our respective rooms and study rooms. The whole house is full of the atmosphere of the Spring Festival.

Dad set off fireworks for everyone to watch, while we children played with fireworks sticks. During the Chinese New Year, we all dress up beautifully and go to the homes of relatives and friends to pay New Year greetings.

On the morning of the first day of the Lunar New Year, we wish our parents a happy new year and good health. Dad distributed the lucky money he had prepared to us, hoping that we could spend the New Year safely.

We also received red envelopes from elders. The warm atmosphere of the festival permeates every household.

The lion dance team came to my house to perform and it was great fun. I set off fireworks with my neighbors and friends, and the colorful lights continued to shine in the sky, which was very beautiful and moving.

As the saying goes, "A year's plan begins in spring, and a day's plan begins in the morning." In the new year, there is a new beginning.

I told myself that I should study hard, get good grades, and add brilliant colors to my life. I also hope that everything will be wonderful in 2014.
