Significance of Tingzikou Project

There is no big backbone power supply in northeast Sichuan. After Tingzikou Power Station was put into operation, its electric energy strongly supported the industrial economy and the living needs of residents in northeast Sichuan.

After the completion of Tingzikou Water Control Project, the cascade hydropower stations in the lower reaches of Jialing River will be coordinated to generate electricity, which is equivalent to the new hydropower installed capacity of10.8 million kilowatts in the whole basin, and there is no need to build new power stations.

The formation of Tingzikou Irrigation District will add 292 1.4 million mu of irrigated farmland to Cangxi, Nanchong, Guang 'an, Chongqing and other places along the Jialing River, provide water source guarantee for industrial and domestic water consumption in towns and counties and the drinking water safety of nearly 2 million rural people, and fundamentally solve the problems of farmland irrigation and drinking water for people and livestock in Jiaqu Irrigation District.

After the project is completed, the navigable capacity of the river within the range of upstream 150 to 200 kilometers can be increased to 500 tons, and the designed annual dam crossing capacity is 332 1 10,000 tons. After the Jialing River is navigable, the waterway mileage will be shortened by 56.2 kilometers, and the 682.2-kilometer waterway in Sichuan will reach the third and fourth navigation standards, and the capacity will be increased by four times, so it can go directly from Guangyuan to Shanghai.

As an important cascade project of channelized Jialing River waterway, Tingzikou Water Control Project will intercept some sediment in Jialing River, delay and reduce sediment deposition in downstream cascade reservoirs, Chongqing Port Area and Three Gorges Reservoir.

After completion, the water storage in the reservoir area will be "connected" with Nanchong Zhong Sheng Reservoir through canal irrigation, and it is expected to "rebuild a Dujiangyan irrigation area" in northeast Sichuan.

The flood control standard of farmland in the lower reaches of Jialing River has been raised from once every two to five years to once every 10, and the flood control standards of Nanchong City, Langzhong City and county towns along the river have been raised from once every 20 years to once every 50 years.
