Brief introduction of Huiyuan city

Located in Huiyuan Township, 9 kilometers southeast of Huocheng County, Yili Prefecture, Xinjiang, and more than 30 kilometers west of Yining City. Close to the north bank of Yili River and the western border, the terrain is dangerous and large-scale. Huiyuan Ancient City is one of the historic cities in Xinjiang. From Qianlong period to Guangxu period 150 years, Huiyuan was always the political and military center of Xinjiang. In the 28th year of Qianlong (1763), the Ili general Mingrui built a city on the north bank of the Ili River, which was named "Huiyuan" by Emperor Qianlong himself, meaning that the kindness of the Qing Emperor benefited the distant places.
