How to carve acrylic characters

There is an acrylic carving knife specially used for carving acrylic characters.

The acrylic knife accurately cuts the acrylic surface to achieve the mirror effect, and the light transmittance (such as plexiglass, acrylic, light guide plate and crystal block) can achieve the surface polishing effect, eliminating the traditional polishing process.

2. When cutting MDF, it is recommended to use a double-edged spiral milling cutter with large chip removal. It has two large-capacity chip removal grooves and double-edge design, which not only has good chip removal function, but also realizes good tool balance. No blackening, no smoking and long service life when processing medium and high density plates.

Flat drum characters:

Draw the required characters on the density board with copy paper, leaving 125px on each side, install the corresponding straight knife with a manual engraving machine, and open the mold along the outer line of the characters (the inner line is the back and the rest are the outer lines).

After the mold is opened, flatten the mold with a file. Then use a file and sandpaper to polish the side and corner of the male mold and female die of the characters into circular arcs, which must be smooth and even, and finally use sandpaper to polish them smoothly. You can also use a computer engraving machine to carve the mold, and after adding enough height, you can smooth the edges and corners.

Pointed drum characters:

According to the size of characters and the width of strokes (the widest stroke has the highest cost performance), draw a middle line from the second floor to see if the inclination of both sides is 90 degrees right angle, and use this angle to locate the increased thickness, then choose a suitable 45-degree bevel knife to install on the multi-function milling machine, and literally open the sharp drum downwards.

Use 502 glue or three-second glue to drop glue on all parts where the sharp point is gradually punched out, which is harder and will not damage the mold when pressing. If there is no sharp point, the height should be raised and the repair should be in place. If you can't buy a tool for super-large characters, you can only make and repair it by hand.

In the process of making acrylic characters, we must choose a good acrylic board. Generally, the selected acrylic board should meet the following requirements:

The thickness of the plate is even, and the plate surface is flat and smooth. Uniform light transmission and good color reproduction. Good weather resistance, good impact resistance, not easy to embrittle and fade.
