Five links of medical survival

The medical survival chain consists of four interrelated links: early access (calling for help), early cardiopulmonary resuscitation, early defibrillation and early advanced life support.

1, early help

Quick response and taking measures can increase the chances of survival in a heart attack. Every minute of delay will greatly reduce the chances. Contacting the local emergency system by telephone and asking for help is the main function of on-site bystanders.

2. Early cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation can continue to deliver oxygenated blood to the brain until other rescuers arrive. Therefore, immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation can increase patients' chances of survival. When family members, neighbors or colleagues die of sudden cardiac death, can they be given cardiopulmonary resuscitation?

3. Early defibrillation

Restoring normal heart rhythm is very important for the survival of patients. On-site rescuers should repeatedly use defibrillators to shock the heart. The American Heart Association recently approved the use of defibrillators by emergency personnel, that is, in-hospital or pre-hospital emergency personnel, and non-EMT emergency personnel.

4. Early advanced cardiac life support

After defibrillation, the patient needs to be stabilized and transferred to the hospital for further treatment and nursing. Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) includes tracheal intubation, drug therapy, monitoring and other advanced technologies for normal breathing. Many communities combine these technologies to form a fixed first aid procedure.

Early advanced life support: early advanced life support after resuscitation of medical staff. Clinical and epidemiological studies have confirmed that an efficient cardiovascular system should be established, whether before operation or in hospital.
