National Games of the People's Republic of China

National Games of the People's Republic of China, referred to as "National Games". The National Games is the highest-level and largest comprehensive sports meeting in China. The events of the National Games are basically the same as those of the Olympic Games except martial arts. Its original intention is to train new people and select talents for the national Olympic strategy.

The National Games is held every four years, usually around the Olympic Games. The first nine National Games were held by Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong in turn. 1959 September 13, the 1st National Games opened in Beijing Workers Stadium, with 36 events and 6 performances, attracting more than 10000 athletes.

1983, the 5th National Games was held in a city outside Beijing. For the first time, four Olympic events were added and a spiritual civilization award was established. 1February 28th, 988, it was decided that the National Games would only be held in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong in turn, and the 7th, 8th and 9th National Games would be held in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong respectively.

At the beginning of 200 1, the General Office of the State Council officially issued the Letter on Cancelling the Restriction of Holding the National Games in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong by turns. On 2011August 16, Tianjin won the right to host the 13th National Games in 20 17 after three rounds of secret ballot. In 20 17, Tianjin National Games began to increase mass organizations.

By 2023, the National Games has been held for fourteen times. 2021September 15 to September 27th, the 14th National Games was held in Shaanxi Province. On 20021August 12, the General Office of the State Sports General Administration informed that the mass events of the 14th National Games were postponed.

On August 26th, 20021year, the Chinese government website reported that the General Office of the State Council issued a letter on agreeing that Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao should hold the 15th National Games in 2025.
