I have been away from home for many years and don’t go home many times a year, so the Spring Festival is even more precious. Although some things are different from before, my family still has the flavor of the New Year. I can share with you how my family spends their time. My home is a city in northern Jiangsu, and the Spring Festival has always followed a timetable that remains unchanged for almost ten thousand years, as well as some Spring Festival foods that always appear. This can be regarded as a sense of ritual during the New Year.

Before the 29th of the Lunar New Year: prepare New Year’s goods, pay New Year greetings to relatives, and get a haircut, because haircuts are not allowed from the first day of the Lunar New Year to the 15th of the first lunar month. In addition to the ones on the dining table, every year the aunts will buy Spring Festival snacks for each family - Laobasi (three knives, honey horns, sesame slices, cakes, glutinous rice sticks, money cakes, peanut candy, hawthorn cake) + fried sesame leaves + Croquettes + Children's halva.

Twenty-nine years old New Year's Eve: cleaning, buying New Year's snacks, posting Spring Festival couplets, eating New Year's Eve dinner, watching the Spring Festival Gala, setting off firecrackers in the early morning; and grabbing red envelopes on the New Year's Eve night. My family has always written the Spring Festival couplets and the Chinese character "福" by myself. Occasionally, I would ask a friend who is a professional calligrapher to write the Chinese character "福" for me. Although my level is average, I am full of achievements. I feel like this is the beginning of the New Year.

There is a strong New Year flavor everywhere.
