My home is a city in northern Jiangsu, and the Spring Festival has always followed a timetable that remains unchanged for almost ten thousand years, as well as some Spring Festival foods that always appear. This can be regarded as a sense of ritual during the New Year.

Before the 29th of the Lunar New Year: prepare New Year’s goods, pay New Year greetings to relatives, and get a haircut, because haircuts are not allowed from the first day of the Lunar New Year to the 15th of the first lunar month. In addition to the ones on the dining table, every year the aunts will buy Spring Festival snacks for each family - Laobasi (three knives, honey horns, sesame slices, cakes, glutinous rice sticks, money cakes, peanut candy, hawthorn cake) + fried sesame leaves + Croquettes + Children's halva.

Twenty-nine years old New Year's Eve: cleaning, buying New Year's snacks, posting Spring Festival couplets, eating New Year's Eve dinner, watching the Spring Festival Gala, setting off firecrackers in the early morning; and grabbing red envelopes on the New Year's Eve night.
