Fishing is prohibited in the Yangtze River.

Legal analysis: From the date of 202 1, 1, and from the date of 2030 1, 12, 3 1, the Yangtze River Basin will be closed to fishing for ten years.

Fishing is prohibited in a wide range. Except for some reservoirs where rivers form and flow, all rivers in the city are included in the fishing ban, and the fishing ban waters in the city are divided into three categories.

The first category is aquatic biological nature reserves that are completely banned all the year round, including: national nature reserve for rare and endemic fish in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, Wujiang-Changxihe fish municipal nature reserve, Youyang Sandaigou giant salamander county nature reserve, Hechuan catfish county nature reserve (national aquatic germplasm reserve in Hechuan section of Jialing River), national aquatic germplasm reserve in Chongqing section of the Yangtze River, and Jiupanhe municipal aquatic germplasm reserve.

The second category is the Yangtze River and its important tributaries, including the Yangtze River, Jialing River, Wujiang River and other 10 rivers with high importance.

The third category is other key waters, including all rivers, such as Yangtze River, Jialing River, Wujiang River, etc. 10 in our city except the aquatic life reserve.

The types of prohibition include prohibition of fishing and fishing time, prohibition of productive fishing and prohibition of nesting and collecting eggs. It is forbidden to sell the catches caught within the forbidden fishing range and time.

Fishing is prohibited in the aquatic biological reserve. In addition to aquatic life reserves, fishing is prohibited in key waters such as the main stream and important tributaries of the Yangtze River from March/KLOC-0 to June 30 every year, and other times are implemented in accordance with relevant regulations.

Legal basis: Article 340th of the Criminal Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) violates the laws and regulations on the protection of aquatic resources, and if the circumstances are serious, those who fish aquatic products in the no-fishing area or during the no-fishing period or use prohibited tools and methods shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention, public surveillance or fines.
