Writing background of "To Ceng Zhi"
This is a poem written by Tao Zhu to his wife Ceng Zhi in 1969.
Tao Zhu used to be The Politburo Standing Committee (PSC) and vice premier of China, and served as an adviser to the Central Cultural Revolution Group during the Cultural Revolution. On January 4th, 1967, Jiang Qing, Kang Sheng and Chen Boda suddenly announced that Tao Zhu was a faithful executor of the "Liu-Deng Line" and "the biggest royalist in China" when they met with the "Wuhan went to Guangzhou to crack down on the Wang Renzhong Revolutionary Rebel Group", and they wanted to "mobilize the masses", "find out" and immediately "overthrow Tao Zhu".
Tao Zhu soon lost his personal freedom, and was confined to his residence in Beijing. Tao Zhu, as a poet, left precious poems in his tribulation during the two-year ban from 1967 to 1969.
in October p>1969, Lin Biao issued the No.1 circular, and Tao Zhu was taken to Hefei and forced to separate from Ceng Zhi. 43 days later, Tao Zhu died in Hefei. This poem was written when he was separated from his wife in prison after being wronged, and he felt the political confusion, personal injustice and the pain of family separation at that time.
Tao Zhu's original "To Ceng Zhi":
It's hard for me to go back to the battlefield, and I'm overwhelmed by your kindness. Ruthless white hair urges cold and heat, and the rest of life is bitter and sour.
a sick horse knows that it is late to hiss, and withered sunflower is even more afraid of frost and cold. Like smoke, the past is forgotten, and the bottom of my heart is selfless.
It is very difficult for me to go back to the battlefield to kill the enemy, and I feel that everyone's friendship for me is really too deep. Cold and summer are cruel, so don't let the years whiten my hair and suffer injustice, and suppress the bitterness in my heart for the rest of my life. The sick old horse also lamented that he was lying in the manger, and the withered sunflower was more afraid of autumn frost. The past has been forgotten, and nothing in my heart can feel the vastness of the world.
expanded information
Tao Zhu's "three images": an ox, a great husband and a poet.
1. Cow
The image of a cow is twofold. On the one hand, it is loyal and honest, such as "bowing down as a willing ox"; On the other hand, it is stubborn and brave, such as "a fire cow enters the swallow base". The image of the cow has been outstanding in Tao Zhu's political career, and Mao Zedong once used the cow as a metaphor for Tao Zhu.
In p>1933, Tao Zhu was arrested by Kuomintang spies. In the Kuomintang Military Justice Department, he turned the court where the enemy tried him into a platform to preach revolutionary beliefs, which made the spies look at each other and there was nothing they could do. He thought he would die, and the comrades in the prison prepared dried salted duck and noodles to see him off. As a result, the Kuomintang sentenced him to life imprisonment, and Tao Zhu took over the verdict and proudly entered the Central Military Prison. In prison, he widely publicized the famous saying that "prison is school", led difficult friends to study and struggle, and once launched a hunger strike in the whole prison. Until he was rescued by the party in 1937, his loyalty to the party remained unchanged for four years.
The other side of Niu's image-stubbornness, fortitude and courage-is the outstanding feature of Tao Zhu's political character. When Tao Zhu is mentioned, there will be an image in people's minds that they dare to fight and shoot, regardless of personal gains and losses for the party's cause, which makes Tao Zhu's image as a "cow" stand out in political life and makes his image as a political figure more real and comprehensive.
2. Great husband
Tao Zhu's lecture notes in life are sentimental and manly. In the last 4 days of his life, Tao Zhu was wronged and suffered from a terminal illness, and the most uncomfortable thing for him was that he could not be with his relatives in the last days. But for the sake of his daughter and his wife, he suffered such pain and set foot on the road of evacuation alone. When he walks to the car alone with a cane, he will feel the tall image of a great husband and a tough man.
3. Poet
Among the three images, the poet's image is the most personalized and internal. Poetry is the reflection of the soul and the sublimation of ideas, and some poems are often written only for themselves. After Tao Zhu lost his freedom, he often wrote poems. Without Xuan paper, he used old newspapers. In more than two years, he has written all the old and new newspapers at home, and piled them up to two meters high. These poems are also the expression of Tao Zhu's true views and feelings in his heart. In fact, Tao Zhu laid a deep foundation in ancient Chinese when he was young, and wrote many poems in his life.
