Jianshui, located in Kyushu, Yunnan, south of Cai Yun, belongs to Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture.

The name Jianshui can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty. Nanzhao built a tucheng here, named Huili, which translates into Chinese as Jianshui.

Speaking of eating Jianshui, I have to mention burning tofu.

On the way from the ancient city to Ying Hui, there is a memorial archway of "a country famous in literature", which was built in memory of Bao Jianjie, an important official of the Ming Dynasty.

That was the case at that time. When Bao Jianjie was an official in the DPRK, Emperor Wanli had a problem, and many courtiers could not answer it, but he answered it like a stream.

The emperor was very happy, saying that "all the documents in the Central Plains belong to the Qing Dynasty", and later built this memorial archway of "a country with famous documents" in Jianshui.

However, the memorial archway is only a small embodiment of Jianshui's humanistic heritage, and Jianshui Confucian Temple is more representative.

This huge Confucius Temple is the second largest existing Confucius Temple in China, second only to that in Qufu.

What Confucius Temple stands for is clear at a glance. But Jianshui Confucian Temple is different from other Confucian temples.

In the courtyard behind Dacheng Hall, there is a memorial temple.

There are two figures enshrined in the ancestral hall, one is Wang Kui and the other is Han Yike. Perhaps these two people are not Wen Da figures to the public, but they are sages who opened the vein of Jianshui.

It is said that both of them were sent here because they were honest with the emperor, so they were worried about the style of writing.

In order to let Chinese culture take root here, they began to educate the poor to study, teach during the day and copy textbooks by hand at night, with good intentions.
