When is the anniversary of Southeast University?

The anniversary of Southeast University is June 6.

On June 6, 1921, National Southeast University held a board of directors meeting in Shanghai to discuss the board charter, adopt the "Organizational Outline of Southeast University" and prepare a budget, and unanimously recommended Guo Bingwen as president. It is designated as the school anniversary day.

On May 7, 1988, the State Education Commission officially approved the renaming of Nanjing Institute of Technology to Southeast University. The name change celebration was held on June 6, 1988.

Southeast University, referred to as Dongda for short, is headquartered in Nanjing. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the People's Republic of China. It is directly managed by the central government at the deputy ministerial level. It is a national "double first-class" and "double first-class" university. "985 Project" and "211 Project" focus on the construction of universities.

Southeast University began with the Sanjiang Normal School founded in 1902, and has since gone through important historical periods such as Liangjiang Normal School, Nanjing Higher Normal School, National Southeast University, and National Central University. In 1952, during the nationwide adjustment of colleges and universities, liberal arts and sciences departments were moved out, with the original School of Engineering of National Central University as the main body. It was successively merged into relevant departments of Fudan University, Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, Jinling University, etc., and was established in National Central University. Nanjing Institute of Technology was established at the original site of the headquarters (today’s Sipailou Campus of Southeast University). In 1988, it was renamed Southeast University. In 2000, it merged with the original Nanjing Railway Medical College, Nanjing Communications College, and Nanjing School of Geology to form a new Southeast University.
