The Rocket Army Engineering University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, located in Xi 'an, China, is the only military college in China that trains command and technical personnel of strategic missile units, a key college of the China People's Liberation Army, a key construction college of Army Engineering 2 1 10, and one of the first units authorized by the the State Council Academic Degrees Committee to award doctors, masters and bachelor's degrees. It is called the cradle of officers of China's strategic missile force.

Rocket Army Engineering University was originally a military academy to train junior commanding officers of ground artillery. Formerly known as the Northwest Military Region Artillery School, it was renamed as the First Artillery School, Xi 'an Artillery School, Artillery Technical College, Second Artillery Technical College, Second Artillery Engineering College and Second Artillery Engineering University.
