I. Basic information

The Department of Animal Science undertakes the teaching task of specialized courses for key undergraduate majors in animal science, and at the same time undertakes the post-graduate teaching work of the first-level discipline doctor and master's degree authorization point of animal husbandry and its two doctoral and master's degree points of "Animal Genetics and Breeding" and "Animal Nutrition and Feed Science", as well as the enrollment point of master's degree in agricultural extension major in aquaculture field, and has established a post-doctoral mobile station of animal husbandry. Now it is a key discipline of animal husbandry in Chongqing, with outstanding professional advantages and obvious characteristics. There is an Animal Science Teaching Laboratory (a school-level laboratory), which consists of four college-level laboratories: Animal Genetics and Breeding Laboratory, Animal Nutrition and Feed Science Laboratory, Breeding Engineering and Environmental Control Laboratory and Forage Production and Grassland Engineering Laboratory. The laboratory covers a total area of 144 square meters and has instruments and equipment worth 6 million yuan.

The scientific research platforms and bases built successively include Chongqing Key Laboratory of Forage and Herbivorous Livestock (2), Chongqing Herbivorous Animal Engineering Center (27), Chongqing Herbivorous Animal Resources Protection and Utilization Engineering Technology Research Center (212) and Black Goat Research Institute.
