Why does China practice freedom of religious belief and strengthen the management of religious affairs?

Respecting and protecting freedom of religious belief includes two aspects: protecting people's freedom to believe in religion and protecting people's freedom not to believe in religion. Freedom of religious belief fully embodies the comprehensive protection and respect for citizens' basic rights. However, the implementation of the policy of freedom of religious belief is by no means a laissez-faire attitude towards religious issues, let alone a disregard for the use of religion for illegal and criminal activities. While protecting normal religious activities, the state strengthens the management of religious affairs according to law, which are two sides of the same problem. Only by bringing religious activities into the scope of laws, regulations and policies can we fully implement the policy of freedom of religious belief. The two are consistent and not contradictory.
