Introduction to Jiujiang Tongwen Middle School
Tongwen Middle School, also known as Jiujiang Tongwen Middle School (Jiujiang Second Middle School), is a famous school in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. Formerly known as the private Tongwen Middle School and the private Ruli Girls' Middle School (founded in 1867 and 1873 respectively), it was the first church school founded by the American Christian Church in China and the first university in China - Jingshi Tongwen Hall (now the Peking University) branch in Jiujiang. After several historical changes, after liberation, the People's Government took over the two schools and merged them into "Provincial Xunyang Middle School" in 1951, which was later renamed "Jiujiang No. 2 Middle School". It was among the first batch of outstanding key middle schools identified in Jiangxi Province. In 2002, the school name "Tongwen Middle School" was restored with the approval of the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government. It lies on the shore of Gantang in the south and Nengren Ancient Temple in the north. It has been 148 years since you can see the beautiful scenery of Kuanglu and hear the roaring waves of the Yangtze River behind.
