Yuxian people generally call paper-cutting "window grilles". Yuxian paper-cutting began in Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty and has a history of 150 years. Most of its authors are farmers, who paint, carve and dye themselves, and create a vibrant paper-cut world with their dexterous hands, decorating the surroundings of their lives into a vibrant and glorious art world. Yuxian paper-cutting is unique among all kinds of folk paper-cutting in China because of its unique interest and decoration, and it maintains a strong vitality.

Yuxian paper-cutting is famous at home and abroad. Paper-cut products are exported to Japan, South Korea, the United States and Southeast Asian countries. Yuxian people set up a "paper-cut street" in Nanzhangzhuang Village, yu zhou Town, the birthplace of Yuxian paper-cutting. Visitors can enjoy the whole process of carving paper-cut at any time. During the slack season in winter, bicycles are mounted on wooden shelves in window format (commonly known as "Liangzi") in the markets of ten towns in Yuxian County. These shelves are covered with colorful "window grilles" and compete with each other in the bright sunshine in winter. This is a unique landscape in Yuxian County.
