Playing mahjong during the epidemic may not be illegal, but it is definitely wrong and must be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. First, gathering together to play mahjong during the epidemic is a behavior prohibited by the epidemic prevention department during this period. Because gathering in crowds can easily cause the spread of COVID-19 and increase the risk of infection among those who gather in crowds. Although playing mahjong is not illegal, such behavior in this extraordinary period is extremely irresponsible to society and oneself! Second, if crowds gather during the epidemic , and using mahjong to participate in gambling is not irresponsible to society and individuals, it is illegal. Because gambling is prohibited by law in mainland my country, participating in crowd gambling violates legal provisions and is an illegal act.

1. Any form of gathering to play cards, mahjong and gambling activities is prohibited within the city.

2. All chess and card shops, mahjong parlors and activity centers in the city will be closed. It is strictly prohibited for any unit, family or individual to provide venues and conditions for playing cards, mahjong and gambling activities.

3. Anyone who gathers to play cards, play mahjong or gamble, or provides places or conditions for them, shall be prohibited from doing so in accordance with the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases and the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases. The National Criminal Law, the Public Security Administration Punishment Law of the People's Republic of China and other relevant laws and regulations, the public security organs will continue to crack down severely in accordance with the law, and those suspected of committing crimes will be held criminally responsible in accordance with the law.

4. Party members and cadres in the city should take the lead in complying with the epidemic prevention and control instructions. They should not only actively discourage people from gathering to play cards, mahjong and gambling, but also not be allowed to organize or participate in related activities. Party members and cadres who organize or participate in gatherings to play cards, mahjong and gambling, or provide venues and conditions for them, will be severely punished in accordance with party and government disciplines while being punished in accordance with the law.

5. All localities and units must strictly implement their territorial responsibilities and supervisory responsibilities, and take all measures to resolutely stop gatherings to play cards, mahjong and gambling activities, so as to leave no blind spots or dead ends.
