I, a grassroots worker in a fourth- and fifth-tier small city (town) in Hangzhou, have not had a day off because of the sudden epidemic.

2019 was particularly busy for me. Family matters and work took up too much of my rest time. In 365 days, I probably only rested for more than 20 days, and the rest of the time was wrapped up in numerous chores.

It’s hard to wait until December 29th, and the Chinese New Year is coming soon. Although there are rumors that the epidemic broke out in Wuhan, and the government also issued notices on travel restrictions, no New Year greetings, and card management, the epidemic will eventually It is too far away from our town, and most people are still in the joyful atmosphere of the New Year, except for me and my colleagues.

On the 29th, town officials began to take a holiday. Before the holidays, each village will submit a census report to their hometowns, carry out isolation and resettlement, and conduct door-to-door persuasion. At this time, a colleague had just received news that she had visited a poor college student a few days ago to express condolences. The college student happened to be coming back from Wuhan. The atmosphere suddenly became tense. We urgently prepared masks and alcohol and cleaned up the office. Faintly, we have a feeling of uneasiness in our hearts that "the mountain wind is threatening to rain all over the house", and we always feel that things are not that simple.

? At four o'clock in the morning on New Year's Eve, my grandfather passed away at the age of 82. My grandfather's death pains me greatly. He was a very kind and interesting man. However, at such a time, it was impossible to hold a funeral, so I decided to stay at home until the sixth day of the lunar month to go out. Grandpa’s life story is not mentioned in this article. I will start another chapter when I have time.

On the first day of the new year, I was on duty and received calls from people with Hubei license plates, people with no one on duty at checkpoints, people asking for permission to return to their hometown, and people asking to leave the local area. In fact, Zhejiang is the first city in the country to launch the "level one response". Without special circumstances and personnel, except for those on duty and volunteering, other personnel need to respond to the government's call and stay at home. Only in this way can the infection be controlled to a minimum. How can we Running around?

Starting from the second day of the first lunar month, local cadres came to me to negotiate. No funerals or banquets were held. Normally, such a request would be tantamount to being filial and disrespectful, but under the current situation, I also persuaded my parents and grandma, and my family took turns to watch the night. Although it was cold, there was a sense of filial piety. Did grandpa see it?

On the sixth day of the lunar month, grandpa was buried. During this period, I never took a break and went to the area where I was stationed to check the checkpoints. There were also more colleagues and friends who volunteered to work on duty since the first day of the first lunar month, which is really admirable.

On the seventh day of the lunar month, I started to return to work. The news of the epidemic at this time had already turned the town into a "sieged city". Everyone was in danger and stayed behind closed doors. Businesses were not open and shops were closed. But, except us.

? A few days ago, I listened to volunteers chatting: It is the same epidemic, influenza in the United States and pneumonia in China. Why are there such big differences in the status and results we have seen? I listened quietly to everyone expressing their opinions, and I did not ignore the love for the motherland, trust in the government, and support for the party organization in everyone's eyes.

In this battle against the epidemic, if doctors and nurses are the vanguard, then Communist Party members, volunteers, police, enthusiasts, and caring enterprises are the backbone and logistical support. We stand together through thick and thin, and we stand firm. This is a commitment and a belief. The tents at the intersection were never deserted 24 hours a day; in the wind, rain, and frost, we had to rely on charcoal fires to keep warm; we ate instant noodles when we were hungry, and took a nap when we were tired. There were piles of instant noodle boxes in the guard post. We also have to go to the village to check for home isolation, purchase necessary items for them, take body temperature measurements, and monitor them at all times. Conduct secret inspections of gathering places, persuade people to evacuate, and explain relevant regulations.

It’s hard work, but also touching. Every day, we feel the simplest support from the people from the local public account: a tent, a box of biscuits, bundles of charcoal, homemade snacks and lunch, dozens of masks, a small amount of savings... …Enterprises are donating money and materials non-stop without hesitation. This is the first time in my life that I have seen something so shocking. I have never seen it with my own eyes. In the face of a catastrophic disaster, human beings are so insignificant. The number of confirmed patients and deaths is increasing day by day, and I feel fear in my heart; But he is so great, so great that he will do his best to avoid disasters, just to protect the spring behind the "city wall".
