Breeding methods and techniques of protein worms

The feeding methods and techniques of protein insects include the selection of insect species, insect feeding equipment, suitable temperature, feeding management, attention to ventilation and light.

1. Insect species selection

First-time breeders suggest buying insect seeds from a regular and reliable company. Only in this way can we buy high-quality insect species and ensure their growth speed and survival rate.

2. Insect feeding equipment

When raising protein insects, prepare cartons and pots with smooth inner walls and a depth of more than 15 cm to prevent insects from crawling out and escaping. When laying eggs, you can spread a layer of bran at the bottom of the box to prevent the young eggs from being damaged.

3. Comfortable temperature

The cold tolerance and high temperature tolerance of protein worms are relatively poor, so it is necessary to control the temperature of the farm when raising protein worms. The suitable temperature for the growth of protein worms is between 25℃ and 28℃. Once the temperature exceeds 30℃, or is lower than 10℃, it will hinder the growth of the protein worm.

4. Feeding management

When feeding protein worms, we should supplement sufficient nutrition and high-energy food, such as chopped vegetables, pellet feed, small fish and shrimp, rotifers, red worms and so on. In artificial feeding, the food should be chopped into small pieces and fed once every morning and evening, paying attention to balanced nutrition and using special feed.

5. Pay attention to ventilation

Good ventilation must be maintained in the daily breeding process of the protein worm, especially when the indoor temperature is high in summer, the container must be moved to a well-ventilated environment to avoid being infected with diseases and the protein worm will die of depression.

Pay attention to the light

Protein is sensitive to light and likes to stay in the dark. When raising protein worms, direct light is not allowed, which may easily lead to the death of protein worms. In addition, the breeding environment is preferably closed indoors in semi-darkness, which can speed up the spawning.
