Wuhan East Railway Station, also known as Optics Valley Railway Station, is an intercity railway station, not high-speed railway station. The existing three intercity railways, namely Wugang, Huang Wu and Wuxian, will start from here, and the end points of Wuxiaogan Intercity Railway and Hanyi Railway will also extend from Hankou Station to Guanggu Railway Station. Wuhan East Railway Station is an auxiliary passenger station in the passenger transport layout planning of Wuhan Railway Hub "five main stations (Wuhan Station, Wuchang Station, Hankou Station, Hanyang Station and Wuhan Tianhe Station) and two sub-stations (Wuhan East Railway Station and Changjiang New Area Station)".
