Most of the current "gig market" lacks unified management, and the market environment is chaotic. In order to gain more opportunities, many migrant workers stand directly on the motorway to work. The flow of people spreads to the center of the road, causing great inconvenience to passing vehicles. Crossings of the road occur from time to time, further exacerbating the congestion at the intersection. Fights sometimes occur over competition for jobs.

(3) Garbage is discarded everywhere, polluting the living environment

The "gig market" is densely populated, and is usually surrounded by breakfast stalls, grocery stalls, clothing stalls, hairdressing stalls and other small vendors. Some of them set up their stalls on the sidewalk and some on the motorway, seriously affecting the appearance of the city. Due to the generally low quality of migrant workers and lack of environmental awareness, large amounts of plastic bags, disposable tableware, cigarette butts and other garbage are often thrown directly on the ground. Open defecation is common, which greatly pollutes the living environment.

3. Opinions and Suggestions

(1) Strengthen planning and management and ban “road markets”

The government should cooperate with the Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau, public security, traffic police, labor, etc. The department has carried out centralized rectification of the "gig markets" on both sides of the road. Select a suitable location to plan a "gig market" in a unified manner, and persuade migrant workers working on the roadside to move to the newly built market. It is necessary to maintain a high-pressure posture in the rectification of the migrant labor market, adopt centralized rectification and fixed-point surveillance methods, increase supervision and management, prevent the effects of rectification from rebounding, and ensure that the newly built "gig market" can be put into use smoothly.

(2) Improve systems and mechanisms to protect labor rights and interests

It is necessary to gradually establish and improve the "gig market" service management mechanism. On the one hand, it is necessary to strengthen services and establish service halls to provide workers with free services such as labor rights protection, career guidance, and vocational training, continuously improve service levels, and build corridor benches in the market for workers to rest. On the other hand, it is necessary to strengthen management, strengthen the division of labor in the market, demarcate different areas for different types of work, gradually establish mechanisms such as queuing and waiting for numbers, and promote the orderly development of the "gig market".

(3) Strengthen environmental governance and improve environmental awareness

It is necessary to continuously strengthen environmental governance in the "gig market", set up trash cans in the "gig market", and build public toilets and other basic supporting facilities. Strengthen the management of small traders and vendors, demarcate fixed stalls, and prohibit random placement. Post environmental protection slogans in conspicuous places, print and distribute environmental protection leaflets, continuously strengthen education and guidance, and gradually improve the environmental awareness of migrant workers.
