What does it mean to die at night?
Please take care of me.
The word "Yoroshiku" was originally coined as a slogan by Japanese bosozokus. The four characters respectively represent the pseudonym "Yoroshiku" (Roman pronunciation yoroshiku), which means "please take care of me".
Later it was gradually used by young people in Japan.
Origin:
Before Japan began to use kana, Chinese characters were used to mark the pronunciation, which was called Manyo Kana. Usually multiple Chinese characters can correspond to the same pronunciation, so the number of Manyo Kana is far more than Hiragana and Katakana.
In Japanese, "し" and "く" are often tabooed because they sound homophonic with "death" and "bitter". However, Japanese bosozokus pursue originality and use "よろしく" posted everywhere as a slogan. Kana is not powerful enough, so four Chinese characters are deliberately chosen to mark the pronunciation, and the two characters "death" and "suffering" are specially chosen to be different.
