Why are the poems of today far inferior to those of Tang and Song Dynasties?

Poetry in Tang and Song Dynasties is not so-called elegant art as it is now, but popular literature. In the simplest example, Liu Yong, a master of Song Ci, lived in a brothel for a long time, and all the Song Ci written by prostitutes in the brothel were sung. Therefore, this is not a unique cultural phenomenon in the upper class, so Tang poetry and Song poetry are the same as the current pop music. So now people prefer to listen to pop music, or do they want to dance and write poems? So obviously, without the foundation of singing, of course, no one will appear in the present poetry.

The second is that there are few writers. At that time, Tang poetry and Song poetry were one of the compulsory subjects in the imperial examination. One of the subjects of the imperial examination in the Tang Dynasty was to write poems, but it was changed to lyrics in the Song Dynasty. So in the Tang Dynasty, almost all intellectuals were writing poems, and in the Song Dynasty, everyone was learning to write lyrics. The more people create, the more masters there are, and the more works handed down from generation to generation. If one day the country adds poetry to the civil service examination, the current level of poetry writing will be improved.

Moreover, people's cultural life is now rich, and we don't want ancient intellectuals to have no other entertainment activities except poetry, and not everyone is interested in poetry and music. Just like music is very popular now, but not everyone can compose and sing. The so-called words are the inner voice. People express their feelings in different forms in different times.
