Method of making plant specimens

Collecting and making plant specimens is a very good hobby, and even many friends will go to the wild to collect and make specimens themselves. But in the wild, unlike at home, how to preserve and make plant specimens without complete tools? Learn from me!

How to make plant specimens It is best to pick wild plant specimens at flowering stage and try to keep the flowers, stems, leaves and roots intact. To collect and make plant specimens, you need to prepare a plant specimen folder and absorbent daylily paper. The specimen holder can be made by itself, and two net frames are made of wood strips, and two ends of the frame can be tied with ropes. Absorbent toilet paper should be placed between two wooden frames, tied with a rope and carried with you.

First, the method of making plant specimens

After the target plants are collected, the petals are arranged and pressed on the toilet paper, and then the stems and leaves are arranged, and each leaf should be flattened. You can't pick the leaves just because there are many leaves, but some leaves should be placed upside down, so that the pressed specimens have two sides of the leaves. If the stems and roots are too long, which exceeds the length of the specimen holder, they can be folded and pressed on paper, and then several layers of absorbent papyrus are spread on it, and then tied tightly with wooden clips.

Plant specimens cannot be dried in the sun. This is easy to change color, and the specimens pressed in the specimen folder will be turned over several times a day. Every time, dry absorbent papyrus paper will be used, and the used paper will be dried in the sun for the next flip. The specimen is mainly made of absorbent papyrus paper. Absorb water from plants. The colors of flowers, stems and leaves remain unchanged in the pressed specimens. It is said that in the desert cities of France, people make specimens of alpine roses and sell them on wooden boards as souvenirs.

In outdoor activities, if there is no specimen folder, napkin or toilet paper can be used instead of absorbent toilet paper, which can be sandwiched in cardboard or plastic boxes and tied with ropes, or plant leaves or flowers can be sandwiched in notebooks.

Second, the method of making venous specimens

To make vein specimens, we must choose leaves with thick leaves, moderate size, flat leaves and rich veins (such as osmanthus leaves and bodhi leaves) and wash them with clear water for later use. Then, heat the water. When the water is about to boil, put the leaves into the water and reduce the temperature of the water. The heating time depends on the leaves. You can take out a piece for observation in two or three minutes until the leaves turn brown or the mesophyll falls off. Stop heating at this time, take out the leaves and wash them with water.

Finally, put the leaves on the plate and add a layer of water so that the brush makes an angle of about 45 degrees with the horizontal plane. Start from the back, brush the back and then brush the front, gently brush the mesophyll along the veins, and pay attention to a regular brush in one direction. After brushing, put it on absorbent paper or toilet paper to dry.

If possible, you can go to the glass factory and press the plant specimens in plexiglass to make artificial amber, so that the preserved plant specimens are more colorful.
