Come on, introduce Shenzhou-9 rocket! ! !

Western Network News (Ma Yifei Fang Qiu, reporter of Shaanxi Radio and Television Station "First News") If the launch time of Shenzhou-9 is not affected by other factors, it is planned to launch this Saturday afternoon. There is also a saying circulating in the space industry-to develop space, power comes first. The Sixth Aerospace Institute, located in Xi 'an, as a research and development and manufacturer of rocket and spacecraft power systems, has undoubtedly become the core guarantee for the launch of Shenjiu. Today, we will take you into the "hometown" of rocket engines.

The Sixth Research Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, located in Chang 'an District, Xi 'an, is mainly responsible for the research and development and manufacturing of the Shenzhou-9 power system. Walking into the exhibition hall of the Sixth Hospital, we got a close look at the true face of Shenjiu.

Reporter: We know that the launch vehicle used for Shenzhou-9 launch is the Long March 2F, and the power provided by the rocket is equivalent to the form of a baton. This is the first section, which is mainly responsible for transporting the rocket to an altitude of 60 kilometers, and then separating in the first section. This is the second section, which is responsible for pushing the rocket into the predetermined orbit. The above part is the spaceship we talked about. After the second rocket broke away, it flew into outer space. At this time, it went after Tiangong-1 and docked with it. Our three astronauts are in this position, and they will coordinate with the ground controllers to adjust the flight direction and realize the accurate docking with Tiangong-1.

Experts say that the Sixth Institute of Aerospace started to develop manned space power system from 1992, and the successful launch of Shenzhou-1 in 1999 proved the success of the system. After that, the repeated launches and three manned flights of Shenzhou series put forward higher requirements for the improvement and perfection of the power system, and technicians turned the weak links into reliable technologies. At the same time, as the core of the whole power system, the most important task of the rocket engine is of course to send the rocket and spacecraft into space smoothly and complete the rendezvous and docking mission.

Reporter: What you see now is the engine used by Shenjiu. We see that the lower part of the appearance looks like an inverted funnel, and the upper part is a very professional and complicated part. Now let's ask Liu, the chief engineer in charge of developing this engine. How powerful was this engine when Shenjiu took off?

Liu Junsheng, deputy chief engineer of Xi 'an Aerospace Engine Factory, Sixth Aerospace Institute: This is the first-class engine of the rocket, which consists of four thrust chambers connected in parallel. Each unit has a thrust of 75 tons. It is necessary to ensure that the rocket and its payload are separated from gravity.

Chief engineer Liu said that the first stage of rocket launch took 150 seconds, but when engineers conducted reliability ground experiments, they ensured that the rocket could provide 600 seconds of power continuously at one time. It is particularly important to note that any negligence in the engine manufacturing process may bring irreparable disaster, so zero error in the production process is a word that everyone often talks about.

Chen Yue, Senior Technician of Xi 'an Aerospace Engine Factory, Sixth Aerospace Hospital: Every part has to go through three to five inspections before assembly, and it takes five to six people. This engine has thousands of parts, so it takes more than twenty days.

Power comes first in developing space. Only by sending the spacecraft into space safely can astronauts and scientific research experiments be carried out smoothly, which also brings us closer to the construction of the space station.
