Generally speaking, it is picked by hand, but there are also machines or tools: a small moon-shaped iron scraper, sickle or picking shovel.

1. Artisanal mining has the following types:

(1) Picking: Also known as folding picking, this technology is suitable for all tender standard picking bags. ② Handle picking: This is a moderately standard picking method, which is used in most red and green tea areas. ③ Two-hand picking: This is an advanced manual picking method to improve tea picking efficiency, which is 50- 100% higher than single-hand picking. Generally, each person can receive 20-25 kilograms less and 35-40 kilograms more per day, but the tea tree must have an ideal crown, a smooth picking surface and neat germination.

2. Cutting and mining

Because of the rough raw materials, edge tea is harvested with tools. Workers everywhere have small iron scrapers, sickles or picking shovels. These tools need sharp blades and quick harvesting to prevent the branches from splitting and affecting the germination of the next round of new buds.

Machine picking: a batch of fresh leaves that meet the standard are picked manually a few days before machine picking, so that the quality of fresh leaves picked by machine can basically meet the requirements of processing middle and low-grade strip tea, and the working efficiency is more than 10 times higher than that of manual picking. After three or four years of continuous mechanical harvesting in tea garden, the bud leaves gradually became smaller, the density increased and the leaves became thinner.
