How to read rocket in English?

Rocket is pronounced rocket in English.

Knowledge expansion:

Rocket is a kind of aircraft, which is propelled by the reaction force generated by the rocket engine spraying working medium. It carries all the propellants by itself, does not depend on the external working medium to generate thrust, and can fly in or out of the dense atmosphere, so it is a vehicle for space flight. Rockets are divided into sounding rockets and launch vehicles according to their uses.

Sounding rocket is a kind of rocket used to send scientific instruments into the upper region of the earth's atmosphere in parabolic orbit and make them enter near-earth space.

The basic structure of sounding rocket includes arrow body structure, power device, stable tail, etc. Most sounding rockets are single-stage or two-stage rockets, and some are three-stage or four-stage rockets.

The power plant usually uses solid rocket engine, which can simplify and shorten the launch operation time. Sounding rockets are not as strict as missiles and launch vehicles in terms of rocket attitude and flight trajectory. Generally, there is no control system, and flight stability is ensured only by stabilizing the tail wing or rotating the rocket around the longitudinal axis.

Only when precise positioning and orientation are needed can the control system be set. In addition to the basic structure of the sounding rocket system, it also includes payload, launcher and ground station, most of which are installed in the instrument cabin of the arrow.

The diameter of the instrument cabin can sometimes be larger than the diameter of the arrow. The information collected by the payload is sent to the ground station for receiving and processing through the telemetry device, or the payload is ejected from the rocket during the descent and safely landed on the ground by using pneumatic deceleration devices such as parachutes for recovery.

The weight and size of the payload depends on the detection requirements, generally ranging from several kilograms to several hundred kilograms, and the maximum can reach several tons. Launchers usually use guide rails and tower launchers to make the rocket get enough speed to leave the frame.

The flight path of an uncontrolled rocket is greatly influenced by the wind. In order to ensure the predetermined altitude and reduce ballistic dispersion, sounding rockets need to adjust and determine the launch angle according to the high-altitude wind data at the launch site.

Most sounding rockets are launched from the ground in a nearly vertical state, and some are launched from mobile launch vehicles, and can also be launched from ships or balloons that rise into the air as needed.

The ground station mainly includes ground receiving equipment for receiving measurement information, positioning and speed measuring equipment for tracking rockets (such as radar) and electronic computers. There are two kinds of radar tracking methods: reflection and response, and response has a longer tracking distance than reflection. The telemetry data received by the ground receiving equipment are directly input into the computer for processing, and the detection results are given in real time.
