Today, my speech is "I am a part of the Green Olympics".

"Green Olympics" is one of the three major themes of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Therefore, the Beijing government has made great efforts to protect the environment, build more "green projects", maintain ecological balance, promote circular economy and protect water resources. However, it is not enough if only the government takes action to realize the 2008 Green Olympics. As a middle school student in Beijing, we should play an active role in realizing the green Olympics. So we should start with ourselves, family, friends and people around us.

In 200 1 year, at the World Trade Center in Moscow, Samaranch, then former president of the International Olympic Committee, once said, "China, Beijing!" I used to have a habit of taking a long bath twice a day. This is a great waste of water. One day, I read a news about the water shortage in Beijing in Beijing Daily. It is said that Beijing consumes about 3.7 billion cubic meters of water every year. However, Miyun Reservoir only has 770 million cubic meters of water, and Guanting Reservoir only has 654.38+0.9 billion cubic meters of water. This shows that we are really short of water now! After watching this news, I began to change my habit, taking only one shower every day. I have calculated that if everyone saves one cubic meter of water when taking a bath within one month; Beijing citizens will save water140,000 cubic meters in just one month! In 2004, Beijing Irrigation Apartment reported that since 200 1 year, Beijing has successfully applied for hosting the 2008 Olympic Games. The Beijing government has launched 26 projects to save water resources. After three years' efforts, these projects have saved 437 million cubic meters of water. It is as big as four Huairou reservoirs. Now, in my daily life, in my family, no matter what we do, we always want to protect the environment and save resources. Batteries, old newspapers, empty glass bottles and all recyclable garbage, we classify them and put them in different trash cans; We make full use of natural light and turn off the lights conveniently; When we go shopping, we will bring a nylon bag instead of a plastic bag; During the festival, in order to protect forest resources, I don't send any greeting cards; After washing clothes, we will not throw away the used water, but use it to flush the toilet ... In short, we should start from every little thing around us and truly realize the "green Olympics".

I still clearly remember that in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, when Liu Xiang got on the podium, he wore a crown made of olive branches. Does this green olive branch represent "Green Olympics"? The olive branch is a symbol of peace, and the Olympic Games is the carrier of "peace". We should not simply think that "no war is the meaning of peace". "Harmony between nature and human beings" is also the fundamental meaning of "peace". "Saving resources and protecting the environment", the pursuit of "harmony between nature and human beings", is the way to embody the core of the Olympic spirit. Therefore, we say that peace is the spirit of the Olympics, and the Olympics is the carrier of peace, and "green Olympics" means that we stand on a higher platform to seek peace.
