If Zhongtiao Mountain is used as a springboard to connect the Qinling Mountains extending to the west, several ridges will form a huge S-shaped curve, which is similar to the most classic symbolic Taiji diagram in China culture.

Hundreds of millions of years ago, the majestic Taihang Mountain and the magnanimous North China Plain slept in the deepest part of the Mediterranean Sea at that time.

Under the violent impact of the Himalayan movement that rose 65 million years ago, the Loess Plateau rose rapidly, leading to a large-scale fault collapse in the North China Plain, leaving a remnant sea.

At this time, another protagonist of Chinese civilization, the Yellow River, began to appear. With the continuous filling of alluvial sediments, the deep sea has become a shoal, and finally the vast Huang-Huai-Hai Plain has been shaped. In August, I was lucky enough to attend a class organized by Hainan Social Science Association in Jiyuan. During the course, I went deep into Taihang Mountain and crossed the banks of the Yellow River several times, which deepened my understanding of the geography of this area and the profound imprint of this geographical environment in the history of Chinese civilization.

Jiyuan is named after its water source. Water supply is one of the "four blasphemies" of ancient rivers. It once entered the sea three times and was too intertwined with the Yellow River. Because of the hegemony of the Yellow River, Jishui eventually became a tributary of the Yellow River.

However, the source of Jishui River is due to the blending of mountains.

Jiyuan Taihang Mountain is located in the south Taihang Mountain, which is roughly east-west, and the extrusion pressure seems to be stronger. For example, when we walked into Hekou Village and wulongkou, the mountain shape we saw was not only lofty, but also broken macroscopically, forming more independent hills.

But their roots are connected, integrated and independent, symbolizing a kind of strength and spirit. Because the south Taihang Mountain runs east-west, the valleys distributed here just breathe the warm and humid air from the south, so it is wetter than the east Taihang Mountain, with lush green grass and trees, showing a rare greenery in the relatively dry northern mountainous area.

Due to the suitable environment and climate, a large number of macaques are active in this area, jumping happily between valleys and mountains and breeding happily. This area has become the habitat of macaques with the northernmost latitude on the earth.

In Jiyuan, our first day of on-site teaching was held in Wuwangshan, which is located at the end of Taihang Mountain and connected with Zhongtiao Mountain. It is the representative of an independent mountain range in Taihang Mountain.

Seen from a distance, Mount Wu is very steep, with towering peaks. Such a mountain shape is more likely to breed myths, and "One Mountain in Gong Yu" came into being here; It is said that Pangu opened the world, the goddess filled the sky, and Jingwei reclaimed the sea, all of which were related to King Wu.

Some people look around Wuwangshan and infer that this is the place where Fuxi performs gossip and Zhou Wenwang performs sixty-four hexagrams. It can be inferred that Kunlun Mountain, a famous mythical mountain with considerable weight, should be located in the hinterland of Chinese civilization, probably the king of Wu.

If the "Central Plains" in a broad sense becomes the leading country in the early stage of civilization, it only belongs to "heaven and earth".

The King of Wu, the hometown of emperors, bathed in the dawn of oriental civilization, and the national myth of Kunlun system came into being here, which provided endless nutrients for the development of China literature.

There are several gaps in the South Pacific that we have walked through, and the green water flows out leisurely. These rivers from the Loess Plateau have cut and carved the majestic Taihang Mountain for hundreds of millions of years, forming deep valleys and valleys, which contain more beauty and magic.

Thanks to the cutting of these rivers, the roads inside and outside Taihang Mountain are connected, and the plateau and plain are integrated. Eight major rivers flowing from the plateau to the plain cut out "Taihang Mountain", which is the eight main traffic lines in Taihang Mountain area.

Qinhe River flowing from Jiyuan, Shanxi Province is the only Taihang Mountain tributary among the eight tributaries of the Yellow River, which has nurtured generations of Jiyuan people.

Mountain roads such as "Taihang Mountain" are extremely difficult and dangerous, which is a battleground for military strategists, and a large number of famous fortresses and passes have gathered in the history of China.
