At present, China's orchard area and fruit output rank first in the world. Fruit industry is the third largest industry in planting industry, second only to grain and vegetables. It is a pillar industry to increase farmers' income and plays an important role in agricultural and rural economic development. However, there are still many problems in orchard agricultural production in China, such as low production efficiency, low mechanization level, high cost and extensive management. Therefore, how to improve the mechanization level of orchard production, replace manual operation with machinery and improve the intelligence level of orchard operation equipment is still one of the problems to be solved urgently in the process of agricultural and rural modernization. With the rise of smart agriculture, it has brought new development opportunities to the fruit tree industry. Developing smart orchards and promoting the deep integration of information technology, automation and intelligent technology with the fruit industry are important opportunities for the transformation and upgrading of the fruit industry and an important starting point for promoting the rural revitalization strategy.

In order to better publicize and report the new achievements in the basic theory, key technologies, innovative equipment and application of modern orchard research, this journal plans to launch the topic "Key Technologies and Equipment of Smart Orchard", which will be published in the third issue in 2022. Professor He Xiongkui, Dean of Agricultural UAV System Research Institute of China Agricultural University, was invited as the editor-in-chief of this topic. This paper is published at home and abroad, and experts, scholars and researchers in related research fields are welcome to contribute enthusiastically.

Four. Introduction to Intelligent Agriculture (Chinese and English)

Smart Agriculture (in Chinese and English) is a bilingual agricultural periodical sponsored by Institute of Agricultural Information, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, headed by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China and edited by Academician Zhao Chunjiang of China Academy of Engineering. At present, he is the president of Agricultural UAV System Research Institute of China Agricultural University, the director of Medical Machinery and Applied Technology Research Center of China Agricultural University, and the editorial board of Smart Agriculture (in Chinese and English). He has been engaged in teaching and scientific research of agricultural mechanization engineering, medical equipment and pesticide application technology for a long time: focusing on the research and development of intelligent agricultural technology and agricultural unmanned equipment system, intelligent plant protection equipment and precise variable spraying technology, basic theory of pesticide application technology, spray deposition drift law of pesticide droplets, precise variable spraying and reduced spraying technology, etc. And presided over more than 30 national scientific research projects. There are 3/kloc-0 doctoral students, 38 master students and 5 postdoctoral students.
