Basic information of Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth, Chinese Academy of Sciences

The establishment of the Institute of Remote Sensing Earth aims to further strengthen the comprehensive advantages of China Academy of Sciences in the field of remote sensing and Earth observation technology, better serve the national strategic objectives, and carry out scientific frontier research at a higher level, which is an important measure for China Academy of Sciences to implement the "Innovation 2020" and "135" plans.

The Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth (RADI) of Chinese Academy of Sciences is a comprehensive research institution directly under the China Academy of Sciences, and it is the largest research institution in this field in China at present. The purpose of the Institute is to study the remote sensing information mechanism, the earth observation and the frontier theory of space geo-information, to build and operate the major scientific and technological infrastructure of national space open-air observation and the technology system of integration of heaven and earth, to build and form the digital earth science platform and the global environment and resources spatial information support capability, and to make innovative contributions to meeting the national strategic needs and promoting the development of disciplines. The establishment of the Institute of Remote Sensing Earth has further strengthened the leading position of China Academy of Sciences in this field, formed stronger international competitiveness, and laid a solid foundation for making world-class achievements.
