How to connect a computer and a switch with a serial port?

A switch can transmit data between multiple port pairs at the same time. Sometimes, if you want to configure network devices such as routers and switches. First, connect the computer and network equipment with a serial port. Then connect the network equipment through special software, and then configure the network equipment on the computer. To connect a computer and a switch through a serial line:

1. Prepare a cable from serial port to USB port, as shown in the figure below.

2. Then, take out the console cable connected to the switch and get ready.

1, remote login

Telnet protocol is a remote access protocol, through which you can log in to the switch for configuration.

Assuming that the switch IP is:192.168.0.1,it only takes two steps to configure the switch through Telnet: [2]

Step 1, click start, run and enter? telnet 192. 168.0 . 1？

Step 2, after input, click? Are you sure? Button, or click Enter to establish a connection with the remote switch. Then, the switch can be configured and managed according to actual needs.

Through the Web interface, you can set the switch as follows:

Step 1, run a Web browser, enter the switch IP in the address bar, and press Enter to open the following dialog box.

Step 2, enter the correct user name and password.

Step 3, establish a connection and enter the switch configuration system.
