Is the relationship between Syria and China good?
In recent years, the friendly relations between Syria and China have been further developed and consolidated. This friendly relationship is reflected in various fields, not only politics and economy, but also humanities and personnel exchanges.
First of all, Syria and China have always maintained close political cooperation. High-level visits between the two governments have been frequent and many important bilateral talks have been held. Syria appreciates China's contribution to maintaining international peace and stability, and supports China's position of maintaining territorial integrity. China has actively supported the Syrian government in multilateral institutions such as the United Nations, and contributed to the stability and peace of Syria by providing political assistance and evacuating overseas Chinese.
Secondly, the economic ties between Syria and China are getting closer and closer. China is one of Syria's important trading partners, and the trade volume between the two countries has increased year by year. Syria is one of the important nodes of the China Belt and Road Initiative, and the two sides have carried out extensive cooperation projects in the fields of energy, construction and communication. In addition, China enterprises actively participated in Syria's reconstruction work, which provided a strong impetus for Syria's economic revival.
The geographical environment of Syria
Syria is located in the west of the Asian continent and on the east coast of the Mediterranean Sea. It borders Turkey in the north, Iraq in the southeast, Jordan in the south, Lebanon and Israel in the southwest, and Cyprus across the sea in the west. The coastline is 183km long and the land area is 185 180km2 (including the Golan Heights occupied by Israel, about 1200km2).
The westernmost part of Syria is the northern extension of the West Asia Rift Zone, which consists of four north-south longitudinal zones, namely, coastal narrow plains, Alawite mountains, Assi Valley and eastern mountains. The eastern part of Mount Lebanon is a vast plateau, and the northern half of Syria is a grassland. The southeast half is located in the Syrian desert and is a part of the Arabian Plateau. Shehe Mountain in the southwest is the highest mountain in China, with an altitude of 28 14m.
Syria's climate is relatively dry, with three-fifths of the countries' annual rainfall less than 25mm, mainly due to high mountains. Northern Syria has a subtropical Mediterranean climate, while southern Syria has a tropical desert climate. In desert areas, there is little rainfall in winter and it is dry and hot in summer. The lowest temperature is below 0℃, and the highest temperature is around 40℃. The average annual precipitation is more than 1 1,000 mm in coastal areas, and only 1 1,000 mm in southern areas.
