Why is this Christmas not as lively as in previous years?

Christmas is a traditional Western festival, not a traditional Chinese festival.

It was hyped by merchants in the past few years. Every Christmas Eve, it became popular to send Christmas fruits and eat turkey. At Christmas, it is Santa Claus, deer and gifts.

Actually, these are all business practices. What does Western festivals have to do with us Chinese?

We in China also have New Year’s Eve.

When I was young, I also liked to celebrate festivals. No matter what the festival was, as long as it was a festival that could be celebrated, I would celebrate it happily.

But now, as I am older and more experienced in the world, I have seen these routines thoroughly, and I no longer want to waste my money on festivals. After all, during the holidays, people used to give you money to spend, but now during the holidays, you have to give money to others.

Furthermore, after playing this routine for several years, it has become commonplace and tired of it. How can it still become lively?

Our generation now feels that even the Chinese New Year has no atmosphere, no liveliness, and no fun, and we don’t like to move around during the New Year.

It’s not like before when people rushed to post Spring Festival couplets and set off firecrackers and fireworks. They also helped their parents wash mugwort leaves, make buns, steam bowl cakes, and prepare New Year’s goods!

Now I don’t do any of these things, and I don’t like to move around anymore. The former is troublesome, and the latter is expensive? Moreover, everyone works outside all year round, and there are no common topics to talk about together. How can there be atmosphere if we are together?

I remember reading a sentence that I thought was very reasonable. It said: It’s not that the atmosphere during the New Year and the holidays is gone, but it’s that you are not the one who is happy now.

Yes! Now that we are celebrating the New Year, apart from making ourselves even more exhausted physically and mentally, what else can we get? You are unhappy and feel there is no atmosphere, but if you look at the children, they are still happy.
